Posts: 3,184 | A little extreme, but I get your message. Now, if you had just worded it in a more eliquent way, it would be much more appealing and up to logical debate..anyway, I won't act the grammarian.
Some "facts" on the PS3:
-Blu-ray will allow less compressed textures and uncompressed sound, in theory allowing for better, richer worlds BUT the PS3 only has a 512Mb memory so you are limited to that. Also, compressed textures are easier to stream than uncompressed raw data, making loading times more lengthy, even with HDD caching.
-The RSX isn't as powerful as first thought, though it is in a way redundant as the Cell can take over most of the graphics processing duties. The RSX is reputed to have been downgraded from 550Mhz to 500Mhz. Now, this may seem a little strange so late in development but it would relieve any heat pressures on system.
-The OS: it has been reported that the Operating system on the PS3 will take as much as 96Mb of RAM and 1 SPE to run. This could significantly affect games performance (the 360 on the other hand is just 32Mb).
If you have any other questions as I only outlined a few there, please feel free to ask.
