I'll agree with him in that it is very weird to hear about the reshuffling of CEOs, chairman, etc. from Sony considering the launch happened only 2 weeks ago. Seriously, that says a lot about who Sony has faith in currently. Also Kaz Hirai is a software buff, whereas Kraze Ken is the engineer (hardware). So now a software exec. is presiding... Again, odd.
Let's be brutally honest though; if the PS3 doesn't do well, the Playstation brand from Sony is done with. Actually, it is entirely probable that the company itself is done with and the Playstation brand will be sold off (to Samsung, Apple, or Toshiba) while Sony tries to regroup itself and focus more on TVs, Audio, movies or some other division.
The only thing that can keep the PS3 afloat right now is 3rd party software, so maybe putting Kaz in the drivers seat will help secure that important aspect. But, on the other hand, Sony cannot make many consoles becuase of the high costs and manufacturing problems. Still, if Sony loses the FF series, MGs series, and a handful of others, then the ONLY notable thing about the PS3 is the Blu-Ray drive. And that's not enough to break even, IMO.
It'll be interesting, to say the least. Sony = Sega? Hmm... |
