I think CT is so highly regarded because it was a perfect combination of the gameplay from the earlier Splinter Cell games and very impressive graphics and AI. People tend to not like DA so much cause it kinda went in a different direction as far as the gameplay. I think that's a good thing as playing for both the good guys and the bad guys and trying to maintain the balance is a very cool gameplay concept. I'd actually suggest playing every game in the series so you'll have a real good understanding of what's going on and where the franchise has come from.
