Reading the second novel, The Flood, is basically an overview of the Halo 1 game, and if you play the game and then read the book, you will be very bored.
Bungie recognizes that probably a small amount of Halo fans have read the books, so you could feasibly skip it. But if you get caught up in the storymode, then the books are a real bonus. I am willing to bet, however, that Halo 3 gives a very general overview in the beginning, and that you could just skip the first two games altogether.
But, since you have 3 months until Halo 3, you might as well do something with your time. |
