I just have Embarq DSL using a 660 Series modem and a wireless Linksys router into which the 360 is plugged in directly.

It would be nice to pass the time waiting for a download to finish by playing another game.

yes you can as long as you are not playing online multiplayer or co-op. if you play the campaign of a game by yourself it will continue to download. if you don't believe me wait a couple of minutes after you get the message and hit the guide button. go to personal settings then go to active downloads. it should still be downloading
