ElderScroller27 is on a distinguished road
Default Bioshock ROCKS the Single Player experience. TRULY A NEXT GEN game at long last.

Most games thats are popular have your basic Single Player Campaign and then some form of Multiplayer For the purposes of this thread I will be comparing The Darkness and Bioshock.

The Darkness was the best NEW game I played all year and only the 2nd game I wanted badly enough to buy new , Then the wonderful world of Bioshock hit the surface and I ended up with New Copy 1 day after it was released.

The Darkness has a killer storyline and a wonderful Singleplayer experience other than the limited development of Special powers and the rather Stale use of Firearms in the game... But then you try to get busy with Multiplayer with The Darkness and it takes a Crazy, broken nose, broken teeth, FACE PLANT. I Got the distinct feeling that 100% of the development time that went into the Darkness Multiplayer was wasted and could have been better used to beef up and polish the Singleplayer. I feel that The Developers of The Darkness probably felt pressured to put out some form of Multiplayer and it only takes away from the games overall value.

Bioshock has a KILLER story and Killer plot development. The AI is SWEET and surprising even after 30 hours of game time the enemies are still doing different stuff. You are a VAST supply of gentic enhancements to chooose from to cobble together your ideal character. And you also have a huge array of 7 weapons to choose from. each weapon has 2 possible upgrades and the upgrade stations themselves are spread out wide over the game so you have to think carefully.... Do I speed up my shotgun firing speed or do I expand my pistol clip size? do I strengthen my Grenades or do I expand the range of my chemical thrower? each choice alters the way you play the game. Even down to choosing which powers you equip... the game lets you equip and unequip your powers at Gene Banks so you can gear yourself up for any situation if you make the trip to your local gene bank. Is the area flooded Take a fist full of lightning.... is the aread frozen or dark? take fire. etc etc. I am fully convinced that if Development time was spend on building Multi-player that it would have hurt the heart of the game and ruined the whole project. The Idea of Multiplayer is cool and all that, mabye you gain ADAM points from wins and lose them from losses and so your character could grow stronger or weaker depending on how well you do but seriously I can sleep soundly knowing that the single player experience will keep me coming back for 3-5 playthroughs and then in a few months i'll be back to play again and again...

BEST GAME OF THE YEAR so far HANDS DOWN.
