================================================== =======
My First Gaming Experience.
It was Xmas, 1983, it had been a tough year, I was a whole of 7 years old (approaching 8) when my dad decided to splurge on us kids for Xmas.
Under the Christmas tree was a few large boxes, one could only assume, it wasn't clothes! So the day came, and we opened our presents.
It was.........
A CBS COLECO VISION!
WOo Hoo!
The CBS Coleco Vision (insert specs here when I get a chance) was a big black looking machine, with 2 controllers, much like a giant phone, with a numberical keypad, a round circle to move around, and a side button. Back then controllers only needed directional and 1 button.
Bundled with the machine was 1 game, Donkey Kong. It was 3 levels of madness, and in my opinion is still the best donkey kong out. The Coleco vision had games on it from Nintendo, such as Donkey Kong. It also boasted excellent graphics. So much so, they raped the Atari 2600, I kid you not. I also got Smurfs the game as well. In another box, we discovered a attachment. The CBS Coleco Vision had a expansion slot (which was conveniently utilised at launch) which took in a large looking Atari 2600. No, it wasn't a actual 2600, but a huge adaptor which basically played 2600 carts. So I had the best of both worlds, with the ability to play a 2600 cart. So Pacman was fun as well, but that was my neighbours cartridge.
It got even better, there was a 3rd box. We opened it, to discover a steering wheel, with pedals, and a copy of a game called TURBO!
It was excellent! I was so excited I beleive I did actually wet my pants my dad keeps telling me. I insist I never had time to go to the toilet that day!
Anyway, for 1983, to get a CBS Coleco Vision, Atari 2600 adaptor, and a steering wheel, with Turbo, Smurfs and Donkey Kong, it was the best christmas ever.
With that, sparked my interest in games, and the love for Nintendo with Donkey Kong being the best game out there and it looked so good.
Recently, on my XB1, I have emulators, and managed to find the CBS Coleco Vision Rom for Donkey Kong as well as the Atari version. No Comparason, CBS Coleco was way ahead of the 2600 for graphics.
I really enjoyed that Christmas, and enjoyed the machine for many years.
So how did I get to Xbox 360, it kind of goes in summary like this
1983 - Coleco Vision
1988 - NES
1993 - SNES
1998 - N64
2003 - Gamecube
2005 - DS
2005 - PSP
2005 - Xbox 1 (the birth of something beatifull - I finally built up courage to invest in the competition)
2006 - Xbox 360
2006 - Wii
2007 - Sale of Wii on Ebay (never looked back)
The future 2008 onwards, going to definately buy the new Xbox 360 successor by MS whenever its released!
