Posts: 52 | I've been getting sick of hearing this, so I'm going to address it out right. The amount of hype a game has is irrelevant to its merit as a video game. Either a game is good or not. For someone to say that they dislike Halo 3 because of the amount of attention it's gotten is moronic.
If you care to measure the merit of the game against the anticipation or expectations, by all means go ahead, but you cannot use hype as a means to discredit the merit of something. That's illogical.
That being said, the hype for this game was immense. It was not, however, on the level of promising salvation to anyone. Let's all put the hyperboles away for a second and realize that the absolute most any sane person ever expected Halo 3 to be was the greatest video game ever. That may sound lofty, but seeing as how it is now the best selling piece of entertainment ever, and that I have yet to find any glaring weakness in the game... well, maybe it just is the best game ever. Maybe, that much we have to consider. And if it is, then it certainly lives up the hype.
