I think Elder was talking about novels like Splinter Cell, then shifted gears to the Bourne series without adequate clarification. I read the first few chapters of Splinter Cell and put it down. The cover features Tom Clancy's name prominently on the cover, and in small font "by Joe Blow" or whomever.
