Yes you are correct, the 40GB does not support PS2 games although the 80GB does. I didn't know and quite frankly, it's kind of ****ed up especially if you can't find an 80GB model and settle for the 40 as some of my friends recently have.

i was looking on the web for an 80giger the other night, found a couple ranging from 500 to almost 800 bucks. but there sure weren't many sites featuring them, and none of them appealed to what secure transaction might be. Sony didn't even have it listed on their corporate site (nor the 20 or 60). i think the 40 brought them more in line with what consumers considered a fair/reasonable price for a next gen console.

and there are games i like to play from last gen, at least until the newest version of the game comes out, like a new KOTOR or Republic Cammando. On the ps2, it would be dragon quest viii and rogue galaxy. i suppose i have enough inputs that i could hook another console to the tv and run ps2 and ps3...
