look...a perfect score doesn't mean it's ABSOLUTLY PERFECT IN EVERY WAY. It is a score given to a game that has brought something new to the video gaming world. It has improved other areas to a degree where it is so noticeable that you wonder why it hasn't been done before. The game, as a whole, is an experience that can't be comparable to any other game without considering comparison as an insult...so to speak. It's a game that you know will be used as a pinnacle for the various components of a video game for the future (until the next big thing comes along). And you know that it is a classic the second you played it.

I could cite a few games off hand that meet such criteria but never managed to get as many published "10's" as GTA IV has. In all of my gaming I have never played a "10" game. However, since I will not be playing GTA IV for another hour or so I'll judge the merits of its score once I play it. I have never been persuaded or dissuaded to purchase a video game based on reviews.
