I'm not 100% sure on this and I'll see if I can get the info to confirm it, but I'm sure Quake 4 is running on the same game engine as Doom 3 with improvements. TBH most of these FPS shooters are a similar sought of thing. The main differences between Quake 4 and Doom 3l include out door settings as well controlling various vehicles like the Mechs in the screenshot below. You'll also be accompanied by other squad members so you won't be going it alone like in Doom 3. Still it's a game I'm looking forward to
