Posts: 86 | Revolution displacement mapping Nintendo filed patents for a technology called Displacement mapping. Its used for rendering surfaces while keeping the polygon count low. According to this Link: http://www.gameshout.com/news/122005/article1959.htm, nintendo filed two patents,one for optimizing the graphics so the technique could work effectively and the other for reducing strain on the CPU thats caused by rendering 3D worlds in to 2D worlds.
So guys, what do you think? I know Nintendo said before its not really into graphics but this is pretty interesting. |
