It honestly depends what you want to believe. If Ken Kutaragi is to be believed, the PS3 will be in 4D, be roughly 20-30 times more powerful than the PS2 and will run at 120 FPS. I don't know about you but i'm sceptical to say the least. You have to bear in mind that Red Steel has been in development for less than a year and looks almost as good (for the mostpart) as Perfect Dark Zero, a title which has been in development for many years. I'm not a graphics whore but I get the distinct impression that Nintendo may be telling the truth this time and that the Revolution will have similar visuals to its competition. After all, the GC was by no means the most powerful console this generation but it sure did benchmark some of the most beautiful titles. | I'm curious to see what secrets Nintendo has up their sleeve as well. But honestly I completely expect that the Rev's graphics will be inferior to the competition. I'm pretty sure they (Nintendo) do as well, since they're hyping the game play (which is certainly what I'd be doing). Not to mention they've already followed the path of functionality/game play Vs hardware overkill/graphics with the DS (versus the PSP) and the Big N has definitely had success. But like you said... you just never know.
I'm also skeptical of anything Ken has to say about the PS3. Of course, I'm pretty much skeptical of everything I hear until I've sampled it and can formulate a valid opinion for myself.
I'm sure the Rev will be close behind the competition (graphically), after all the PS2 was pretty close to its competition this generation as well. But to say that the PS2 was "just as visually stunning" as the competition last generation is also laughable. Just look at RE4 on the GC... it was superior in every way (except sales) to the PS2's version. But these two consoles were very close in the hardware department... whereas I don't think the Rev will be as similar to the PS3/360 in that department (judging by their price target). But we'll see... I guess we can speculate all day long, but at the end of the day it doesn't mean much until the Rev & PS3 are available and a real comparison can be made.
I can't wait!
