As for movies from halo though to halo 5...? There will only be 3 Halo games, as they come from the Halo novels (unless more script is written on at the end). It is possible that Alex Garland drags on the story for 5 movies, but highly unlikely.

I thought that the novels were based on the games, not vise-versa. I dunno, I could be wrong.
