Posts: 807 | What Content would you like to see in the ULTIMATE RPG? I always thought that something set in Ancient Egypt would be cool, But it would have to be true to fact without any cartoony/juvenile content.
Or Possibly a game based in the Amazon jungle about 2000 years ago kinda like the movie Apocalypto mabye?
What really kills RPGs for me is the CARTOON or CHILDISH content. I loved the combat system in Lost Odyssey and visually it's STUNNING. but then you have maing character who are 7 years old and somehow kicking as much butt as the 30 year old characters? and it's all boo hoo, haha, I want my mommy crap which is a major downer in games when primarily what I want is to be able to settle into the game world and play the game on a serious level. |

Posts: 2,423 | a warhammer RPG might be fun, and it could be either the ancient or the future one. been playing the RTS of dawn o' war, and i really like the warhammer universe. i know its a bit cartoony, but if you didn't have some of that you would end up playing SiMs: the RPG. this towel is +5 to drying. water on the floor -1 to stability....boring.
You ever play Arcanum, elder? Sierra PC game from 2001. That game is sweet. it is a pretty unique game. takes place in victorian era, i believe with several different races (dwarf, human, elf, etc...). I would compare it to fallout, sort of.

rabbit, did you ever see the blade runner game for the PC? wasn't quite an RPG, but more of a mystery solving game. you played a blade runner, not harrison ford, and you were investigating some murders, similar to ford, but your cases overlap a bit at one point. you got to go to the scenes and get evidence, use that photo thing to close in on parts of the photo, and that machine to test if you were human or not. it was pretty cool.

I actually had to buy it shrtly after it came out because of all the rave reviews. but then 2 days later they started selling it bundled with Fallout 1 or 2 ? i'm not sure which. All i know is that i was bummed because I didn't get 2 games for the price of 1.
I remember all the fun in baldurs gate! LOL like when I played through the first 20 hours of the game before realizing that I could slow it down to turn based... it took me soooo long to get the hang of the speed of the game. but then it seemed so much easier once i knew to play it turn based during combat!! |

Posts: 40 | Has to be turn-base, I love the JRPG concept, not in the future, not in the past, modern times something like PERSONA 2 without the crappy battle system.
The story always is the most important, 2nd character desing, 3th battle system, 4th music (nobou uematsu is god), 5th graphics.

Posts: 807 | For me personally I think Story and Combat System are tied for importance then the rest stacks in close behind. If either the story or combat system are flawed then the whole game is scrap. ALSO music is of no importance, I always mute the music in games so i can actually HEAR the game. When a game puts the music into the same sound track as the voice (making it impossible to stop the music without also stopping the voice) then i am always very pissed. |
