PS2 got recalled and were trash out of the box. dvd read errors like crazy if i remember.. something like that.
actually, since launch day ive had 1 crash (was too hot) and 1 read error... same time. i cooled down the room and it was fine. if you have your 360 properly ventilated(the frikkin brick!!), those problems rarely if ever pop up.

Posts: 3,184 | The Xbox 360 is the most unreliable console I've ever came across. Heck, even Watchdog (the BBC consumer service programme) did a whole episode in getting to the bottom of it after several THOUSAND people complained to them. Remember, those thousands are for the UK alone. It's so unreliable. What makes it worse is that it's not just a single issue; some are manufacturing issues, some are yields on the CPU and I even know of GPU failure (one of my best friends' 360 had GPU failure just 2 days ago - 8 weeks out of warrenty).
Get it sorted Microsoft, it's just not acceptable, especially in the UK where the console costs $600. |

Posts: 206 | I'm on my third 360, and so far this one is ok, but while playing SVR07 twice I got the "Please insert this disc into a Xbox 360" message, but that was about a week ago.
My friend's PS3 has been perfect, one time it froze up during a motorstorm demo, but otherwise it's awesome. His 360 is pretty much perfect too, but there ARE annoying errors.
Wii & PS3 are quality built machines with alot less errors. 360 has alot more errors.

| | | The main point of this is when you bring home a new 'next-gen' console that costs quite alot of cash, the last thing the consumer should have to worry about is making sure the gigantic brick is well ventalated and that the 360 is in a open area, and hope that the disc reads and theres no errors.
to make sure the 360 is safe from heating its out in the open, and the 360 and brick out in the open can be quite the eye sore.
Now im not saying you can stick the PS3 in a dark little dusty corner but it has no brick, is almost silent and is very stylish beside HDTVS and stuff, and is far from and eye sore. and you can put it in your tv unit stand without worrying to much.

Listen I tipped Strongbow all over my PS2 before, and it still worked brilliantly with no problems. The 360 IS the most unreliable and there can be no arguements on this. As Scot said, I can never remember the PS2 appearing on watchdog!

I'm a gadget lover so Ill stick up for all consoles, if they deserve it. And the 360 does not deserve any credit for its reliabilty issues. I also owned a Dreamcast without any problems too.

Posts: 206 | Yeah and the Dreamcast was ahead of it's time and very few were defective. The PS3 looks fancy, the Xbox 360 is a more middle-of-the-road consumer product design wise. Still a great console, but it's very unstable.

Posts: 2,441 | i had a day 1 dreamcast as well.. god i loved that thing.. till it got stolen... grrrr...
10 games, 4 controllers, 2 of the good memory units (w/ the screen n buttons) keyboard.. ALL OF IT gharrrhgh!! memories hurt
come to think of it... ive never had a faulty console.. and ive had most of em *besides PScrap*
i never said the 360's werent faulty, i just think your over generalizing and blowing it a lil out of proportion. its not the first console w/ problems and it wont be the last.

Posts: 3,184 | Yes, it's definitely not the first but from what I've seen so far, it is by far the worst. My PS2 failed on me, but that was 2-3 years after I bought it so it's not THAT bad.
Many people just have a blind allegiance towards a particular product and will not face up to the fact that it is not all "Sweetness and light".
There has been a few isolated cases that I've heard of PS3 failure (most launch consoles with HDMI problems) but they have supposedly been rectified. Yes, maybe some people are blowing the Xbox 360 problems slightly beyond what they really are but I know about 10 people with Xbox 360's, eight of them have had to send the unit to get it repaired (some more than once) so it is a real problem - still to this day.
Microsoft needs to get to the bottom of this. In general, the Xbox 360, to me just seems to be a powerful console built cheaply - both exterior (power button is of very poor quality for instance) and interior (overheating, crap fans which are very loud, loud DVD-drive and failures a-plenty). The extent of this can be seen in Microsoft's move to give a "life-time" warranty to all consoles made before 24/01/06 as they were deemed to be failure-prone.
Anyway, this thread is about the PS3...so let's talk about that:

Posts: 1,143 | The rumble is a welcome return but tbh how often do you notice it when youre concentrating on a game? If it is coming back will the rumble be in the Box on release in the UK?

Posts: 3,184 | Eazy, according to a source I have (who will remain anonymous) that they already have a design ready for production and it could be ready before our launch.
And I do REALLY notice it, especially in the types of games I play; FPS and racing. A racing game without rumble or Force Feedback is nigh on impossible as you have no clue as to what the car is really doing. Yes, you have the visual and audio clues about how much grip you have, if you are not quite on the racing line etc. Rumble in an FPS is very important too because you just feel detracted from the game without and sort of feedback when you fire your weapon or when you are shot.
Bring it back, Sony |

Anyways its brilliant news the rumble coming back, that why i created thread on it other day. Games like assasins creed(which needs vibration tbh) will be great on ps3.

Posts: 840 | scot you sure jumped ship to "the other side" fast :P Or maybe just trying to make yourself feel better about your expensive george forman grill you're waiting on
Just winding ya up buddy, but in all seriousness id be pretty pissed if force feedback comes out now if i owned a ps3. For example if i went and dropped however much on a ps3 that came with a normal controller (wtf no rumble?) then had to go out and spend another $60 for a controller with this feature id be pissed. So for those who don't have the ps3 released yet hopefully what you say is true about the rumble feature being ready for launch. Although north american ps3 owners will be pissed if this is the case i bet :P

The 360 "rumour" upgrades that people are expecting to trade in and get HDMI, bigger HDD's, built in HDDVD player etc.. are significant upgrades. The rumble feature of a controller is something that blew my mind that was not included, and if one came out id sure be complaining and demanding i was able to trade in my rumbleless one.
