Default splitting a wired connection

is it possible to use an ethernet switch to turn one wired connection into 2 and run ps3 and 360 on a wired connection at the same time? i tried running it on wireless but it conflicts with all my computers in my house and only has 55 percent signal strength. jeeze ive been using ethernet and its taking over 5 hours to download mlb 08 demo.

The PC and PS3 (same with the 360) Take up a lot of the internet power (i guess you would say) I have 2 cables one to my PS3 360 and PC but i cant have all 3 even 2 of them on the internet at the same time. I know you can do it but i dont know how. ask someone at best buy or something.

Ok firstly, get a router, ie one with 4 wired ethernet ports and wireless.

Manually assign a IP adress for your 360 and other devices (although it should work anyway).

Also, lets say you can download normally at 250k per second on your PC, thats roughtly 1 megabyte per 4 seconds, or 15MB per minute. So 1 Gigabyte would take your PC on average 66.67 minutes to download. Lets just round this down to 1 hour ok.

So now you see a Game Demo on XBL, or Movie etc, and it too is 1GB. Your 360 can take roughly 3 or 4 hours to download. Thats because you dont get full speeds out of XBL. Microsoft has capped the actual speed available to I beleive its 512K per second per user. So no matter what you cant download at super speed.

I may be wrong, but I've done the above example, cause I get around 300k per second, and a 1gb file on pc took just under a hour, yet a demo on XBL went for 6 hours overnight!

Its always been slow.

Downloading is also slow on the ps3 it takes roughly 5 hours for a 1700mb demo to be downloaded and it's a wired connection.

The speed of connection is what matters lol, not the console.
