As requested.

lol. Was that the smallest font you could find? No worries, we've all got games we wouldn't brag about (star trek conquest)

For groups of friends locally, Brawl is supposed to be a blast (maybe moreso if you have wavebirds laying around). I'll criticize it's online deficiencies but I don't doubt the game itself.

Trauma Center New Blood (multi coop), Zdub (Zack and Wiki) (probably the best 3rd party exclusive on the system--though you wouldn't know from the boxart/name, single player), MP3C (single)--one of the best hardcore games on the system that would have been perfect if they'd gone multiplayer with it--I recommend it over Galaxy.

I can't personally recommend any on-rails shooter as a matter of principle, but both Ghost Squad and RE:UC have multiplayer modes since you brought up playing with friends. I think you mentioned RE:4(Wii) before, it was a huge seller and rated well, but I don't know much more than that.

I recommend IGN as a review site (for content of the review, not the score) for all the above games. They aren't perfect, but when it comes to what you should expect from Wii games, they seem to get it better than most. They like and understand the whole Wiicosphere (and are both all-around gamers), they get appropriately offended when a game doesn't bother to get it right, and they like to highlight the games that do.

If you want to get crazy, Endless Ocean (Forever Blue, single player (online "coop")) has always fascinated me a little. It's not much of a game, and doesn't have an actual gameplay element, but if I ever see it in the bargain bin, it's mine. It's just ocean exploration, and collection if you feel like collecting. What I'd really love is for the company to sell the engine to Bethesda to put in an open world Wii game. If wishes were horses...

Watch for Monster Hunter III as well.

That's my take on what's most worth looking at. I may post back some more later when I realize I've forgotten something important. I always recommend hunting down quality user created video footage for game before buying. Get a nice look-see.

thanks fortunz. i'll go to that site you recommended and check them out. i have seen a couple of those games you mentioned, but i don't want to shell out 50 bucks for a game i won't like, for any system.
brawl looks like it is doing pretty good, ratings and sales wise, so i might give a check. i got it on the 64, and wasn't to impressed with it, so i never tried it for the gamecube.

if you haven't tried soul calibur, i would recommend it for a rent. i wouldn't have bought it, but it was a gift, and it is pretty entertaining, at least in small doses.

I think everyone who loves it loved the others too. I've heard people talking about the original and nostalgia when playing the newest one. Caveat emptor.

I'll think about SCL, thanks. My impression was that it's mostly hack n slash, is that true?

yeah, it is some hack and slash, but there are actual moves that you can do. but i think soul calibur ends up with you just kind of waving the controls around. but by doing so, you can find some moves they don't teach you.

so i got dragon quest swords the other day. i was excited for a new RPG based on this series. however, there are some big differences. you don't have the freedom to explore (when you go on your 'missions' you are stuck to a single path, but it does look like you can reply the 'levels' at some point), and it is first person. The combat is real time, and it took me some time to get used too. but you can block enemy attacks with a shield you can pull out. the people in your party don't do much though...i never saw him attack anything, and he would occasionally heal me.
it was kind of fun; i put about 2 hours into it last night. i am not sure how large the game is.
graphic wise, it is the same cell shading as DQ 8 was, and it doesn't really look any better then the ps2 game did.

Super Smash Brothers Brawl, Mario Galaxy, and the Wii's Virtual Store... I've spent wayyy too much money there. Super Mario World, Donkey Kong Country, and a whole host of other great games felt ****ing awesome to play again. Worth the moolah.
