do you think will be in each shipment? i'm just wondering to get a vision at where exactly i stand on the 2nd shipment and if they will ship both 1st and 2nd together like some ppl are saying they might do
I think that's a very difficult question to answer at the moment, but hey I could be wrong.

yea i realise that, but i'm just looking for a guess really. just to kinda get an idea because i know some ppl are pretty accurate with guesses but there are some who aren't like me.

At EB Games here in Ontario, they only odered 14 the first shipment, 15 reserves were ordered, and I was the 16th, I'm getting the second shipment but I don't know how many they will send then...

well that is bundle though is that all they had ordered or did they have premium too. i'm just talking like premium.
Romper Stomper
31-08-2005, 07:17 PM
Yeah that was of premium bundles.
Rubiks14
31-08-2005, 07:25 PM
ok...i knew that but do they have any just premiums that are for sell by them selves is what i meant up there. sry if it wasn't that clear
Romper Stomper
31-08-2005, 07:32 PM
What do you mean premiums?? There is only one kind of 360 if thats what you mean.
Rubiks14
31-08-2005, 07:35 PM
i'm talking about just the "xbox 360 premium package" $400(well $500 for canada) no bundle just the console it's self.
MH_prophet
31-08-2005, 07:35 PM
There's a premium package and a core package.
Romper Stomper
31-08-2005, 08:14 PM
You cannot buy just the console itself.
redhead
31-08-2005, 08:18 PM
"premium" is only what the package is called, the normal xbox 360 is in that package with a lot of xtra accessories to keep it company, with (i think) a nice shiney skin for it

There will be any where from 2-5 millions systems shipped by the end of the year. That total is of course world wide. About 70-80% of those will be premium packages, while 20-30% are Core Packages.
I'm sure the USA will see at least 1.5 million units this year. Japan won't get many units, and Europe will get a million or so. Of course, that's going on the asumption that all countries will get the units this year.
To cover pre-orders, I'm going to guess that the USA need to get 500-750 thousand units. You should NOT have any trouble if you've already pre-orderd.
All statements above are not credited, just educated guesses.
Also, after 2 years of working at gamestop, I know how pre-orders work. They may say that their on the second shipment, because they have to. What really happens, is that each store is told that they can take "X" amount of pre-orders by the gamestop corporation. The Corporation get's that number, by taking the number of units microsoft promises by launch day, and then to devy that out to all stores.. Once that number is breached, they are then told to tell people their on the second shipment. However, just because the number reached at some stores, doesn't mean it's going to be at all stores. If one store goes 20 over their pre-order limit, and another store is 20 under, then it evens out.
Also, the number of units microsoft promises by launch is the MINIMAL amount of systems they can sell to the company. So you will be able to find out if they are going to get more units then aniticapated, closer to the launch date.

thank you that answers my question perfectly that is exactly what i wanted a guess...so since i'm like 7th or 8th on the "second shipment" i have a good chance of gettin one on launch?

You'll get yours first day, no questions about it.
If there is still any worry, just remember when Halo 2 came out, and there were Collectors editions in stores for months. I know systems are larger, and harder to produce, but you know what I mean.

Hah, no problem, and yeah, I was confused to how the topic changed so swiftly in this thread. Especially sence the answer to the question that started the thread never arose.

This thread was almost bombed thanks to me. Popo you CAN buy the 360 by itself, the Core package is just the 360, wired controller, and you can get games along the side aswell.
So G4 you're saying that my local EB Games will get the second shipment the day of launch? 14 are coming first shipment and I'm second on the second shipment.
G4everX
31-08-2005, 11:24 PM
If you've already pre-ordered, there is a 98%, or greater, chance that you will get yours at launch day Romper.
They may or may not get their second shipment by the day of launch, but I'm saying that you will most likely get you system from the first shipment.
Microsoft ships a bunch units in a big-ole ship and keeps them comming untill they run low on supply. Their then transfered to warehouses, and from there they go to stores.
Numbers are devied out acording to pre-orders, then the extras are sorted out by single store buisness. The higher end stores will get more, and the smaller stores will receive less. It takes 4-5 days to get systems from Microsoft's production line, to your local store. All stores will receive their systems 2-7 days before launch. Allowing the store ample time to receive more from the warehouse, and call you on your pre-order. Of course, they won't acknoledge that they have the units in the store in advance. But, it should become apparent when it's reported that large shipping crates are leaving the microsoft production lines nearing the launch.
Also, there is NO WAY that EB will only get 14 units the day of launch. The number is a load of crapola. You'll get your system at launch.
Working at gamestop during the launch of Halo 2 SUCKED. We had the game in the back room for a week before launch! You don't know how bad it is holding it in your hands, then not being able to play it tell a week later....

Alrighty thanks G4. Man that must have sucked about the halo 2, if I were you I would have just ran with it or sneak it away. Do the game stores just take anyone when hiring employees? I would really like to know since I am interested in working at EB or something.

Yeah, pretty much anyone can get a job there. The only problems, are that they don't higher very often, and they don't pay well. If your getting the job for the discount, just work at Barnes'N'Noble. They now own both Gamestop and Ebgames, and you can get a discount at all three stores. The ebgames discount may not be in effect yet, but it will be soon.
Oh, and yeah, the Halo 2 thing was just about the death of me. I worked EVERY day that week too... Every 5 seconds some one would call and ask if we would take pre-orders on it, or ask about their pre-order, or the midnight launch, or if we had them yet. Not to mention the F***ers that came in asking about it too. Not that they were, I was just getting anoyed about it, all the time it's in the back room and I can't do anything.

Damn, I'll just watch them like a hawk for now hiring signs. Isn't barnes'n'noble a book store? And did you get a discount on the 360?
Lol, when I went to EB to reserve my 360 I bombarded the guy with questions and I could just tell he was getting annoyed, soon after I reserved it he just walked away.

Barnes'N'Noble, a book store you ask? Yeah, but it's a good one, and they bought Gamestop a while back. As gamestop spends Barnes'N'Nobles money on companies like Ebgames, Funcoland and other cool places.

I forgot to mention, that the gamestop dicount only works on games and accessories, not consoles. You get 15% off at gamestop and 30% off at barnes'N'noble. Also, during the first and sometimes second week of December, you get 25% off at gamestop, and 40% off at Barnes'N'Noble. ^_^

Awesome, will the discount be the same at EB when they start doing that? And is Gamestop only in America cause I haven't seen any around where I live.
G4everX
01-09-2005, 11:41 PM
Yes, it will be the same at Ebgames
No, there are gamestops all over the globe. However, their REALLY stepping it up on store production. Their going to have 600 new stores open in this comming year. Putting that into perspective, there are only 1,600 or so gamestops now.
Many of the new stores, about 90% or so, will be outside the US. Last year there were over 400 stores added to the US, now their concentrated else where.

Japan or Asia will be recieving the same amount as North America

Japan or Asia will be recieving the same amount as North America
It was all guesses. Though, sence I've though about it a bit more, your probably right about Asia. However, I don't think Japan will get as many units. Microsoft doesn't want to have a large back stock of units in Japan, at launch or ever. I think Japan will get a good amount of units (500-750K), and then the sales will generate system supply after that.
My reasons are as follow. The first Xbox was not, and is not a very hot item in Japan. They had back stock of Xbox units sence it launched. And the whole system had a bad name from the company being American based. I don't know what Microsoft has done to change Japans image on them, but I do know that they have said Japan will be their worst market again. (Their working on it)
Sorry for that.
Nice to see a girl on the boards, expecially sence your the Ultimate Girl Gamer! Dang, I think I should feel inferior in your presence. :adore:
Well I tried pre-ordering at EBGames but they were already full....
So hopefully FutureShop does a 12:00 midnight thing the night of.. That's what I'm currently banking on.
