Hello all,

I heard on a podcast (it competes with Planet 360's so I won't say whose.) that the vga cable would do 1080p after an update that came out in the fall of 2006. The interview was with a Microsoft employee and the host of the podcast verified it.

I have a 65" Mitsubishi 1080p and right now the best I can do is 1080i via the blue/red/green cable. I've tried 1080p with it and it won't work.

I bought the vga cable and my tv recognizes it upon plugin but my 360 won't display any video at all. What gives? Anybody else with this problem?

The one thing I can think of is that I need to use a vga to a PC-DMI adapter in order to connect it to the TV. Could that be screwing it up?

Thanks.

Also, what is the real difference in quality between 1080i and 1080p?

Does your TV accept a resolution lower than 1080p using the VGA cable? Some TVs can't do 1080i or 1080p over VGA.

Yes, you are correct.

Some TV's only accept 1080p over HDMI, which is a real pain for the Xbox 360.

The vga cable doesn't work with the TV at all. Right now my display setting on the 360 is 1080i so even if the vga cable showed a lower resolution it wouldn't be worth using since I already get 1080i from the blue/green/red cables.

The HDMI ports on the TV get 1080p.
