well that article has an error in it. the ps3 does have an online service like Xbox live on the Xbox (i am not being a hater, i like both of the consoles). well if you have seen the press conferece, you should have noticed that the ps3 has an online service like the Playstation world or Playstation connect (i forgot which one is it) well that lets play online with friends and family, connect with other gamers around the world, share media with your PSP, no matter where you are in the whole world and of course with your friends and family, offer Downloads for games and movies, music etc. , and the best one is let you surf the web which Xbox live doesn't let you do :( but i am not going to take sides because i like the both and i am planning to buy them both same as my current-gen setup. thats it and i just wanted to let you know.

Notice the Date of that article, it was posted in June 13th, and I'm pretty sure that Sony hadn't announced their Online Plan by that time. They actually haven't given details of it yet, but it's known that they will, of course, offer an online service.

However, you can't start comparing Sony's service with Microsoft's. As far as I know, The current Online service that Sony offers is pretty horrid compared to Xbox-Live (which has just won an Emmy Award for its excelence) Now, I'm not saying that Sony's online plan for the Ps3 will be equally poor, but we must focus on what a console's online gamming is for: Gamming. And there's were Microsoft's got the edge so far, with the enormous infrastructure it has, they are able to bring their online service to thousands (soon millions) of users without suffering lag. Surfing the web isn't really a big deal for a console, I already do it with my Xbox and I only used it once, just to test it. In the other hand, Xbox Live gives me a fast, stable and lagless service which is what us gammers are expecting from our consoles online capabilities.
In my opinion, it's not to have as many features as possible, it's to have the best of the ones we need.

Yep. True. I didn't buy an xbox, and get live so I can search for porno. Not only that, but imagine if everyone in the xbox live network was downloading porno? imagine how slow the networking would be. IMO this will happen with the PS version. But also I'm pretty sure I saw somewhere that Sony wanted to make their developers host the servers (of course they said it in a way that makes them look good "our games online capability will be provided by the developers so they can directly connect with the consumer" or some **** like that)... Which really means. Sorry guys we don't have the infrastructure to do it but hey, to compare with 360's developer friendliness we'll force our developers to set up their own online servers.

Yeah that's gonna draw a lot of developer attention.
