Current Xbox live Kit ok for Xbox 360?

I just got a Coupon from best Buy in Which I can get $10 off the X-BOx live Starter Kit or 12 Month Renewal card. Will these work for the Xbox 360?

I'm pretty sure they will, since MS stated you can port your old subscriptions over. But why not just wait for the 360 12 month kits anyways. They come with a lot of good stuff, including 20$ off any xbox title.
