I'm gonna buy one of these for my xbox, but I don't know which one.

I only have 1 controller and I'm not going to buy a 2nd battery pack, and I would like to just be able to plug the cable in and play rather than wait for it to charge out of the controller, so I think I'm gonna get the play and charge. Plus it's $10 less.

What is your oppinion?

I think your better off with the play and charge. You never have to remove the battery from the controller and from my experience the battery has lasted me around 20-22 hours until I have to charge it again. Also whether your charging the battery or not you will alays have a way to use the contoller even if it's wired.

I have an Energizer recharge station with 8 rechargeable batteries. It was relatively cheap and works great for me. Anytime my battery or a friends begins to die we just scoop up 2 fresh ones and re-charge the old 2. I have had it for over a year and it still works like the day I bought them. It's also the best available option and cost effective if you play a lot with friends and multiple controllers are in use consistently.

I have the quick charger myself. The charge lasts 20-30 hours, so you'll have plenty of downtime between gaming sessions to put your battery on the charger. Sorry, but being tethered to your system is so 2005, IMO.

Why be tetherd, Nyko also offers a quick charger and it comes with 2 batteries for the same price.

I agree. I love mine. I sit so far away that wires are not an option....and more of a pain than anything. Plus, I believe the USB on the xbox is only on if your console is on, so the play and charge will only charge if your playing or whatever. I may be wrong, but I think that's how it works. I like just popping them in the quick charger over night as I only need to do it once a week or so.

Good point. I forgot about that.

If you have the console on and hook the P&C kit to the USB then shut the system down the system will go into a low power state and charge it then shut down when fully charged.

The USB ports have power all the time, even if the console is off, as long as the brick is plugged in.

I have a $30 Nyco set with 2 battery packs and a charging station which holds 2 battery packs. It only takes about 2-3 hours to do a full charge. I just use one controller so i constanty have a fully charged battery pack standing by, and the battery packs last me for about 14-16 hours of gaming.

I also tried an official Microsoft play and charge kit but after 1 week it would only hold a 30 minute charge before i had to plug the charger back in so it was like having a part-time Cordless/part-time wired controller so i returned the charger to the store.

originally I used Rechargable AA batteries from my digital camera, they lasted 12-14 hours and had a rapid charger which only took 30 minutes to charge them.

Buying regular disposable batteries is not only costly but very wasteful when considering that they go into a landfill. I would highly recommend buying some kind of charge kit or rechargable battery set, You save a ton of money in a very short timespan and also you are gaming in an environmentally friendly manner.

$20-$30 will buy you mabye 40 to 60 AA batteries which will last you a few months if you are a heavy gamer. OR that same $20-$30 will set you up for YEARS with no late night runs to the store to buy AA batteries or raiding the remote control praying it isn't one using AAA batteries..

I'd recommend one to anyone at the end of day it will save money on batteries.

I recommend the MS Play and Charge kit and the Nyko one as well, they both have worked great for me. I rarely have to charge the battery packs. When it comes to quick charging any battery they usually dont last as long since, so just go with the play and charge.
