on my tv, whenever I play ANY game like halo 3 or when im just on my 360, the tv cuts of some stuff around the outside. For example, in halo 3 where you see your grenades in the upper left corner, there is a little space around it. On my tv it cuts off a tiny peice of the grenade count, so I can still easily read its 2 but not superbly. also the radar is in the far bottom right corner and all of it is visible, but if you took a little more away some of the outside of the tv the radar would be cut off a little. Also this goes for the ammo capcity in the upper right corner and whatever is in the bottom right corner. So you get it it cuts off a little around all edges of the tv. Now heres the thing, on games like GRAW 2 the ammo was made with very little room in whatever corner it is in, so app. 1/4 of the ammo capcity is cut off.

When you guys played the CoD4 beta, was the ammo and all that stuff like health directly in the corner where there was little room for anythng to be cut off or is there some room for it to be cut off and i can still read it. Like in halo 3 the radar for example is a little bit out of the direct corner, theres room for about idk an inch to be cut off, is it the same in CoD4? Ive seen gameplay vids of CoD4 and it looks like theres space between things like the crouching activity thing and the corner, but is this true? I also dont thing there is an ammo capcity icon in CoD4 and if so it might not even matter if the rest gets a little cut off.

also if you know how to fix my tv without buying a new one lol please tell me

sorry for the long post :(
thanx though guys you always seem to help me :)

Although you don't say, I'm guessing you have a 4:3 aspect ratio TV. You're probably going to have to live with it until you upgrade to a widescreen. Developers are challenged to build games to display on a variety of monitors, and unfortunately something is lost in the compromise.

How old is your TV? I've seen on some TV's when they get old the tube starts to get weak the edges of the picture start to fade out. I play on a 4:3 television and none of my picture is cut off at all. Your TV may need the tube replaced but it's cheaper to buy a new TV these days than have one repaired.

Yes Fried hit it on the head yout tv is at 4:3 ratio I don't have that problem cause I have LCD widescreen and iplay in 16:9 ratio and i beleive all these games are being optimized for widescreen tv's.

so does CoD4 have room around the edges like H3 for a bit to be cut off or is there just enough room as it is. I would switch tv's to the smaller LCD tv but when my friends play its hard to see and I like larger tv's
my original xbox didnt have this problem :(

as you can see in the video it looks like theres room that can be cut off but is that how it will be in the final game or was that just the beta.

I have H3 and played the COD4 beta and my picture edges were not cut off in the least. (i play on a standard 4:3 36" tv) There may be a problem with your TV (please read my post above).

I don't know about COD4. The old Xbox was optimized for 4:3. The newer systems (save Wii?????) are optimized for 16:9.

Now that's a useful post, Stuntman.

And yep, Mr Karma is correct. You're most probably running 4:3 ratio TV and it's having scaling problems. There are several games that do.

One solution: Join the 21st Century and buy a Widescreen.

well then the 2 games i play, GRAW2 and Halo 3 apparantly have scaling problems.
Do you think CoD4 will have scaling problems too?

Dunno. I played the COD4 Beta...but I'm playing on a 16:9 HDTV, do as I said...dunno.

I think COD4 is going to be scaled to 16:9 ratio I saw it on cod 4 forums awhile back. But, I am not 100% sure so dont hold me to it.

It is not scaled to 16:9, it is rendered natively in that aspect ratio. I knew what you meant, you knew what you meant...but I have an urge to correct people :D

so if its scaled to 16:9 (or rendered natively in that aspect ratio as scotracer has corrected us :) ) will it cut off some of the screen? is Halo 3 set to 16:9?

We don't know until it is released. As far as I recall, all previous COD games have been properly scaled/rendered so there shouldn't be a problem but only time will tell.

Halo 3 isn't scaled wrong dude! Nothing on halo3/cod4 beta is cut off on my tv at all. I'm playing on a regular tv like you are. IT'S JUST YOUR TV!!!!!!

joshzul3

ok...well the main question is those who played the beta, is there as much room around the edges like there is around the radar and ammo in halo 3 cuz it cuts of about an inch on all sides

hollywood21639

I have played the Beta and nothing is cut off at all. The problem you are experiencing is indicitive to your TV alone or your settings on your console aren't proper for a 4:3 ratio television.

Sadly the new gaming is rubbish on an old TV, buy a new TV or anything with a 16:9 ratio.

I would invest in the BLEEDING EDGE tech that is IR but such high technology frightens me. I'm afraid that one I touched the greatness of the Wiimote the pathetic DA controls just wouldn't satisfy and I'd have to play Cooking Mama part 12: the revenge! all day.
