Well, discuss GH3 here.
We don't get GH until like in November in Europe, so I can't really say anything about it.
But I wonder, is the guitar wireless? What batteries do you use?
And uh, the rest of your opinions please.

hey don aren't you hawaiin? i believe that the guitar is wireless but i was forced to play ps2 version because my 360 was broke. the set list is so much better in guitar hero 3.

I'm Swedish, but it's practically the same thing.

why did i think you were hawaiin?

Because like he said, they're practically the same thing. Why you would think that is completely understandable and 100% logical.

yes the guitar is wireless, it uses normal AA batteries which are included. I gotta go pick up some rechargables !
Yes the game is awesome !!!!!
Been playing since release on Sunday, can't get enough

How do you like the song selections?
nufan
31-10-2007, 03:08 PM
personally i think there are some beauties in there. Theres also a few songs that arent familar to me so arent all that exciting, however I didnt know alot of the GH2 songs at first but they all grew on me. I think they have done a good job on the songs and its sweet that a lot of them are master tracks rather than covers

I have 80 dollar gift card and been thinking of picking this up. I never played any of the Guitar hero's. Would you reccomend this game Nufan and what's the learning curve on it?

I played Guitar Hero for my first time this summer over at a friend's. I always thought GH was made of fail and lose, but when I played it, I fell in love. It was just so unbelievably much fun.

The only time I have played it is when I tried it on demo a few times at Best Buy. I was thinking about buying GHII awhile back but decided to wait for III. If ever, now is the time!

the song selection is the best of the 3. the songs that you buy in the store suck though. i rented it for ps2 and now that my 360 is back i will probably end up buying it. do you think its worth buying the new guitar or should i just use my current guitar?
nufan

Recon I would recommend it but then again I am a fan of the series. Its a blast to be honest solo and is even more fun with some buddies as it just adds to the fun. As far as learning curve goes, it is easy to pick up and play but tough to master. It comes with a tutorial to get you started and easy, medium, hard and expert difficuilty. You should cruise through easy and medium, things can get a bit hairy in tough and expert can be a real challenge.
There are a lot of haters of this game, even on this board, but honestly once you play it does become addictive and loads of fun !
sports, personally I like the new guitar, its a sweet design and heck its wireless. People say who cares about wireless but its just so much more convenient. Just think of the difference between wired and wireless controllers !
As far as the bonus songs yeah they are a little different but this is consistent with the series. They are typically "indie" songs and not so widely recognized as some of the main hits in the game.

Picked it up today, you are right it is really addicting. I am loving the songs that are included. Like you suggested went through the tutorial and playing between easy and medium till get the hang of it. But I have say is great and really fun game.

yah you can play a bunch of different modes head 2 head on live as well as individual co-op songs (1 plays lead, 1 bass). My favorite is the new battle mode, you can use power ups against ur opponent like break their string etc !

Im assuming that you have a choice of which instrument you buy for use with rock band, or am I just being ignorant?

MY understanding is initially it will be all or nothing with Rock Band, you are committed to buying the whole kit and kaboodle for an outrageous sum. Sometime in Q1 2008 you'll able to buy individual instruments.

Initially you can either just buy the Rock Band game (and be stuck just playing guitar with a controller or guitar hero controller) or the special edition which comes with Guitar, Drum Kit, Mic and the game itself. Actually the special edition is $169USD which i dont think is bad at all for all those peripherals. Then in early 2008 they will start to sell the instruments individually.
The real fun will be with all instruments though and a bunch of buddies over so the special edition is the one to get.

...Get a real instrument instead, damn.
Spending $170 on plastic guitars... is kinda ***.

Well yeah I've been playing guitar since the age of 14. But rock band interests me as something quite fun to play with mates when youve had about 20 cans of bow.

Don its kind of ironic that you started this thread about gh3 then say that spending the money on plastic guitars is ***. Like wrutless said these are great for having a bunch of mates over and having a blast. The whole thing about "get a real instrument" is old and to be honest pretty weak. Its like saying go play laser tag, stop playing halo, or go buy a real car, why play car games.

Works for me as I have no musical talent what so ever, and no ambition to learn a instrument. So I will stick to plastic a guitar lol.

Didn't start a Rock Band thread, and imo $170 is a bit too much. For me, anyway.

I'll stick with plastic guitars. I took lessons back in 9th grade and alls I got was frustration, guitars aren't very relaxing for people with poor musical talent.
As for GH3...good stuff :bandit:

I also used to take Guitar lessons, when I realized how bad i was and frustrating it was, i tried guitar hero and LOVED it kick*** songs, and i was semi-good at it, so i enjoyed it:Proud: ...

GHIII's 360 guitar is way better than the GHII one. It's wireless but the buttons and strum bar feel way better than the last one. It is damn near the same exact game as the 2nd one so you can take that either way. At least it will last longer via XBL this go around. They already put out 2 downloadable song packs for Velvet Revolver and Foo Fighters, so I hope they keep them coming. I like that those 2 packs have 3 songs from the same artist so if you like the band you won't have to settle for a song or 2 you didn't like in the 3 song pack. Hopefully they step up the bar next time or we'll end up with the Madden/Tony Hawk syndrome. If you like GH you won't regret buying it. Rawk On.

So, anyone have any feedback to share on Rock Band in comparison to GH3. Besides the obvious drums/mic option that comes along with Rock Band, and the different price tags. Just pure gameplay, how do they compare?
I just played GH3 on my buddies Wii last weekend and it was pretty damn fun after a couple drinks. Was thinking about getting it, but with Rock Band coming out in a couple weeks I am wondering if I should wait.

Yeah, the information that Rockband comes with all the instruments is right :].
Personally I play guitar, been playing for about 4 years, but GH is so different from actual guitar and its a fun game. Its really not fair to compare each one since they are really different in so many aspects.
I want to get Rockband for the drums too! the singing will be interested.. I wonder what they will do for it?.. like how is it going to pick up right and wrong from Easy to Expert :D

15-11-2007, 06:53 PM
I watched a video on YouTube and it picks up tones and pitches and such. So if you have to hit a line on the top, you have to have a higher pitch and it can go from high to low e.t.c. Pretty neat.

I got to play the drums for Rock Band at Wal Mart a couple days ago. It's pretty challenging, but you can pick up on it pretty quick. I like how you can actually hear the singer (the one in the game) and hear the instruments. I thought that the guitar was wayyyy too easy though. I got almost 100% on Expert on my first try. Oh, and the fret button for the guitar is... interesting. It has its ups and downs for it.

Just picked this up not too long ago, but I'm almost regretting it now that Rock Band is out... I only just started playing Hard difficulty (this is my first time playing the GH series). It's pretty fun.

I bought this game in mid September and have been playing it at least one song a day trying to get better, now I can play on XPERT and have almost gotten through the final career. The learning curve is very steep once you break into the HARD and EXPERT careers, but you will get the hang of it.
Oh yeah, i bought a faceplate for my guitar too, i guess that makes me a nerd as well right??

For the most part, I hate every song on GH and RB. I always thought The Roots "The Next Movement" would be nice but that's mostly drums. If EA does bust out a DJ Hero you better believe Imma cop me one. Curious to see how they work it out but flossing the ones and twos on a Mobb Deep or Dogg Pond track would be rugged.

Agreed but are all the songs on GH or RB current? Most are "classics" so I'd expect to see Run D.M.C. - Grand Master Flash and the Furious 5, Whodini, Tribe Called Quest, Pharcyde, Kurtis Blow, Man Parrish, De La Soul, Sugar Hill Gang ... And all the real pioneers of true hip hop.
