Microsoft promises a price cut a year for Xbox 360
Or, "we're making you pay more now so we can shift more later"

WITHOUT HAVING YET launched the Xbox 360, Microsoft has already laid down a roadmap for slashing the price of its next-gen console as it becomes yesterday's news.
According to Boomtown, the company is planning – or should we say promising – a price cut a year for the console. Demand for consoles drops during their lifetime anyway, forcing price cuts in order to shift boxes but for Microsoft cuts will mean that it can further increase the margins between its console and Sony’s expectantly pricey offering.
Whether or not we will see price cuts after launch this November and before the PlayStation 3 launches in Spring 2006 remains to be seen, however.
That sounds cool to me. I'm still going to buy it at release date though. I can hardly wait as it is! :)

I can't wait until the PS3 launches with the 360 Premium in stores at $299 with a HDD and 2nd generation games like GoW already out. Sony really is going to lose it's lead this generation, especially if they have a bad launch (which they are widely known for).

yeah sony comes out around 450 without and HDD and xbox360 is like 300 with the HDD and maybe a premium bundle for 399 with a game or 2 at that time....sony would be in trouble

only game i'm worried about from sony is mgs4 you look at that and just think OMFG but all you need to think about is that gears is runnin on one of the 3 cores and that lightens you up quite a bit.

Ask yourself this. Are you willing to fork over a ****load of money for 1 game?
As I explained before, things are expensive enough in USA. Add 100$ to it and 15% tax. Getting yourself set up with the PS3 will be about under a grand. That's with my estimate of the PS3 being at 500$ Unless Sony lied and it's not as "expensive" as they say it will be, which they are very well known to do for every single launch. So add 100$ onto that and add the tax. then add the price of the 1 game. MGS4. while we're at it, we might as well buy a memory card or HDD so we can save our game.
Or...
Stick with the 360 which has tons more games anyways. 160 vs 102(they claimed, apperantly?) games.
Getting an expensive console is not worth it for that 1 exclusive title.
Most of their other titles are multi-platform anyways. To me, 360 has TONS more exclusives that I'd rather play. All the rest are, like I said, multi-platform titles.
I'm sorry if you guys don't agree with my view on this, but getting ps3 for 1 game is NOT worth the money.

I will buy the PS3, if it keeps companies like Square-Enix, and Atlus producing exsclusives. Oh, and the Xbox 360 price cuts don't mean much to me, sence I'm picking it up at launch anyway.

They'd be the same if not better on the 360. I wouldn't spend upwards of 3/4's of 1000$ or more just to play one game, no matter how good it looks. Unless you're rich, I'd recommend rethinking about how you spend your finances. Games are for fun but, I plan on saving up for retirement someday, and spending money like that won't make it happen any faster. Just my 2c about that.
