Silver is free forever. its weekends only though. Since youve never had it id say try silver first. If you feel its worth it then gold for sure.

yeah as Nuke said Silver is free indefinately, but you will only be able to play on-line games on specific weekends (not every weekend). It's certainly worth using this to try Xbox Live gaming out first, then if it's what you want to get into then upgrade to the Full Gold option 1 years subscription.

As for getting onto Live, I'm a total IT dinosaur and I found it incredibly simple and easy.

Live play makes it so much more worth it. I tell everyone I know who has an Xbox that they've got a sweet machine, but until they get Live you're not fully getting your money's worth (and beyond).

Especially since you can try it out for a month for $7.99!

...Just to see if ya like it or not.

(You can also buy subscriptions of your XBL with silver from the menu)

Yeah I've read around that MS made it so you don't need a credit card anymore. I think you buy a pre-paid subscription card and enter the numbers in. Didn't really read much on it.

Yeah, like what they said. If you really aren't sure just try the free weekends out. I can personally tell you that I love Xbox live as it is right now. All the new options coming with 360 Live is just... Amazing! I have a lot of fun and I don't regret for a second signing up.

I don't know if anyone will argue, but yes you sometimes will meet a few jerks online. But this is a give in, jerks are everywhere! Nobody gets along with everyone in life. Luckily if anyone bothers you that much you can always mute them (warn them first if you don't think they realize they're being obnoxious, you'd be suprised with some people) . If someone really begins to harass you, or starts cheating or abusing exploits you can always give them bad feedback. You can give good feedback too if you really like playing with someone and think they've been a good player! Just remember to always be polite and respect other gamers as you would have them respect you. We're all people too.

There's lots of great people on live, you just have to find and hang out with the right people. They aren't all hard to find, just play around and when you meet people you like send a friend request.

If you don't care about socializing much I suppose you can always just play on your own and join optimatch games. But chances are someone will send you a friend request sooner or later, too. :)

Live is an amazing experience and in my opinion, the best one to ever come to console gaming! Have fun with it! :)

Read through the thread first before posting.
You would have then read that Grumpy posted that silver is only playable on live at certain weekends.

This question depends on what you want from live. I would say that if you want the free live stay with silver. If however you wnat to play online games go with gold. Also for $50.00 a year gold is not that bad of a deal. Go with silver at first and then if you want switch to gold.
