360 questions as buying one at lunch today

Hello

Im on my 3rd 360

i have a few questions........i have £100 store credit with my local Blockbusters, i was gonna pick up an arcade version as i dont need to download movies etc yet, but then they showed me a 2nd hand premium for £150, but its an old version, not falcon chipset? which should i go for? they will give me 6 month guarnettee if it goes wrong? but for £10 more i can new arcade model abiet without the extras

Also do all new 360s come with a months subscription to gold live as i cant afford to buy a yearly membership yet? (or is that just the elite)

personally i'd go for the premium, it's a great price and sooner or later you're gonna want those extras and trading in for yet another console will be an expensive option. granted the loudness of the console is an issue but i'd much rather take the extras over a quieter console. but on the other hand if the arcade version only leaves you without a hard drive it may be worth while to get the £100 arcade version and buy a 2nd hand hard drive for under £50 at a later date, they both seem like similar offers tbh.

and i think all consoles come with the live membership but don't quote me on that, also with the console being 2nd hand you may not get the live membership

thank you. i got the arcade version, i nearly brought the 2nd premium. i was in there for an hour uming and ahing!!

i still dunno if i made the right choice?
i had an old model before and apart from the loudness i had no trouble with it......so im not sure!!! i mean BB would give me 6 months guarntee. whereas they only give 14 days with a new model!

but i do like the fact my console is fresh and hasnt got anyones stuff on it!

but in the long run i will end up buying a HDD and headset........thats like an extra £75 quid brand new

Buying the NEW Arcade Console is an extremely wise choice if only to have the 36 month warranty. The HDD drives are very easily found used. Also you can trade in the memory card from the arcade console to somewhat offset the cost of a used HDD drive.

Just to help reassure you... The stores that are selling the used consoles always say that you have a "guarantee" they may even advertise the consoles as "Refurbished" but usually in the fine print of the coverage on consoles you will find that it's a meager one time use coverage. because all they want to do is take in the used consoles and turn them around back out the door for easy profit without being obligated to warranty coverage. Gamestop Specifically is untrustworthy with used consoles, they take ownership of a used console with MABYE a quick play test, it gets dusted off and stuck in a box that says USED/REFURBISHED etc etc then when you buy it you have 30 days to return it, or if you drop some cash you can buy a limited warranty which is good for 1 single repair/exchange which voids the warranty. we had a bad experience with a local gamestop scamming us on an original Xbox. but luckily my wife verbally layed out the manager in front of other customers until he did the right thing :)

Good choice on going for the new arcade model. Also, the xbox itself doesn't come with a free month rather you get a free month of gold when registering a new gamertag.

Yes, good choice on the new. I find it hard to buy used things, especially electronics and cars, because you just never know how other people treated the equipment before you bought it. i have a hard time getting used games and cds, too. the smallest scratch or scuff usually has me refusing to buy it. and now you have the sweet new chipset too.

bought my 360 off ebay with some games for a LOW price and got lucky that everything has worked great. and i don't think i've bought a game that was brand new. everything has come from either ebay or half.com because i'm frugal. but i only buy from people with extremely high ratings and usually a guarantee.
