Well I know that ebgames ran out of reserves for the 360, but I was talking to a lady who worked at gamestop yesterday, and she said as of yesterday (the 27th of september) they arent letting anyone else reserve because they ran out or something...

Wow... I knew about EB ran out of pre-orders, but I didn't know about Gamestop. Luckily I got mine from EB before they ran out!

A friend of mine got this e-mail form GAME (largest game store chain in the U.K.) last week...

Dear Customer,

Thank you for the order for an Xbox 360 that you placed with GAME.

I am writing this mail to update you on the latest information we have about the launch.

You may have seen in recent press coverage that Microsoft has announced a launch date - 2nd December.

There is an incredible amount of interest in the Xbox 360 and many people have already placed orders. It is not yet known how many will come to Europe, but it is very likely that there will be a shortage of stock everywhere when it launches, as happened recently with the PSP and in the past with the PS2.

As Europe's premier games retailer you can bet we'll receive the largest share of available stock, which we will proceed to get to all of you in a fair and orderly fashion - despatching stock as and when it arrives, on a first-come-first-served basis.

If you preordered on the first day we put Xbox 360 on the site, you can feel quite safe about receiving one for launch day, but if you ordered one yesterday, chances are you will have to wait a bit longer.

The thing is we all knew this was going to happ[en, that's why we all dived in and preordered as soon as preorders became available.

I actually got an e-mail from EB about pre-ordering the 360 before they posted that pre-orders were available on the website. I'm not sure how or where they e-mail came from, but I got it.

i guess since it has been allowing pre-orders for such along time, u have to expect them to run out....they can only ship so many at a time

I kind of find this as a blunder for Msoft- they should send out enough for everyone to enjoy the Xbox 360 goodness, by not doing so, they are creating a resentment towards them (although it is MSoft, most people already have resentment towards them), and possibly alienating some potential customers.

I haven't heard about my pre-order yet. I did it back in July, and it is almost paid for, but still, I may get the shaft. If push comes to shove, I will drop my pre-order and camp out just to get one. Besides, its been a while since I went camping.

I think all of us that preorderd are safe I will bet we will all get our 360 on launch day, I think people just speculating especially after the Tokyo game show 360 created alot of excitment and this is gonna spawn more orders toward 360 as M$ is marketing the 360 whole lot diffrently then they did with the original xbox. So I would say if you have preorderd don't worry I am sure M$ kicked up production to get as many out as possiable.

i would say that microsoft is going to fill the promised orders. I mean, come on....it's microsoft!

They have yet to lie to us that I know about. They've delivered on everything they've said they would, and the retailers have a contract with microsoft which obligates them to only give out a certain number of preorders that will be redeemed. If yours doesn't get redeemed, it's your retailer's fault. Not Microsoft's.

M$ has said multiple times that they will make sure they have enough systems to keep store shelves filled. The reason EB and Gamestop have stopped taking pre-orders is because they aren't sure how many they will be getting in their first shipment, and they don't want to oversell their stock.
