Well, it's just a suggestion.
When the Xbox 360 launches, there will be games for the launch (obiously). So i was thinking, maybe us (Who visit your website and go on the forums) could write our own reviews! You never know, you could find some talent. :top:
So, what do you think?

You could have a user review section but i dont think they will go on the homepage, it is hard for me to really describe why but the site will need a review team when the console is released but your system doesnt work to well that is why other sites dont do it. The staff writers will usually be notified in advance which games they can take to review a while before they are released and we can not inform everyone on what the staff are covering.

I've been talking with Matt about this idea for a couple of months, but we're in a limbo at this point. I hope we are able to incorporate something like ebgames were you can leave a rated feedback with a general synopsis of your feeling for the game. IMO, this is a good idea for me because at least I know some of the people here and I trust their opinions instead of someone at Gamestop who may be pressured to say good things to generate sales. I prefer the brutal honesty of consumers who know a fun game without benefiting from promos.
Quite frankly, you can always start a thread in the games forum dedicated to reviewing that game, add a poll to rate it (i.e., Buy it! Rent it. Buy it used. Avoid it like the plague!). However, I am hoping for something a little more structured and professional in appearance. And I would gather you all think the same, right?
Feel free to generate more interest in this topic, we're looking for ideas.

Wait a minutue....
I have a brilliant idea! What if i make a official Game Review Thread and you's could make it a sticky!
I'll do a current gen one and a Next Gen one later.

Easy, don't jump the gun yet. You're welcome to make an unofficial pre-game reveiw thread, but be forewarned, if the official one comes out, you may be "urged" to drop your thread. As for making it a sticky... no promises at this point. Depends on Matt and his vision of things.
We've still got some time on our hands, we'll keep you posted on the upcoming themes.

Yeah, i went a bit power mad there. :fight:
Well i'll make an unofficial one and well see how it goes.

Sounds good, more power to you (in a non-mad way).

It could be like IGN where they have the staff review and then at the side or bottom average reader score and if you click on that you can submit a user review or read others

Well, the ign model is nice, but I am looking for something that doean't bifurcate the masses into staff and non-staff. I'd like a general thread for a specific game that everyone can post on and rate (on a scale of 1-10). Explanations about graphics, gameplay, plot, and whatever would be a necessity. Any posts such as "thi5 g4mes r0x!!!1!!!!11one!!!" will be deleted and the rating discounted. But, this is just an idea.
The reason I want everyone on one thread is for a variety of reasons; first to conserve space as we know there will be hundreds of games for the 360 over the next 4-5 years. Second, we'll say that there are about a dozen staff members who may not play enough games to cover all those hundred titles (I, for example, own about 10 xbox games). I am willing to bet a few of them will slip through our grubby lil' digets. So if a gamer sees there is no therad on a certain game, he can create an *official* thread instead of waiting for a staff, and be using a template provided by our lovely website to make post with his/her opinions. Lastly, because gamers outnumber staff, and they probably have more time on their hands since they're not moderating the forums, they will have the most useful insights on a larger scale. And quite frankly, I value their opinion because they are more likely to be brutally honest about a game than someone in a authoritative position who could be biased from advertizing or back rubs (not that Matt is, but Gamestop and Eb...).
So, with all that, I hope we actually make a seperate forum specifically for gaming reviews, or sub-forum within the existing game forum. Nevertheless, we shall see.
