well i don't think any are done, but i bet all the ones that they have confirmed for launch are just in the final stage of being tweeked and getting all the bugs removed.

I think they should be complete and in mass production or something.

If they are not finihs, they should finish soon. The last weeks they ned to start putting them on a media, packing the boxes and that takes some time

i think they are just going over the game and making sure they dont find any bugs or fix the bugs

xpitbull

Yes Gspark, i completely forgot that step, they take a long time to go all over the game, menus, extras, credits (believe it or not people read the credits) and if something is wrong, they have to back and fix it, and that can take days even weeks

i think seeing that they r like 5 weeks a way that means the games r going over review and then boxed and shipped out......

I doubt they are done with any games yet. They could produce and package all the games they need to ship at launch within a week.

well somethings have to be done soon as the Kiosks are sent out to stores a week before launch in the US.

The last step before a games release is MS certification. They hammer on each game to ensure is works correctly. From one of the recent MS interviews I remember the guy saying no games have exited out of certification yet. At least that was his story.

I hate the demo too Jack, its just a part of the gam, since almost all games are being carefully review since they dont want people to pay 60 bucks for a game full of bugs

Most kiosks have beta hardware and software.

Sure it wasn't the demo? If so... how was it? I thought the demo was sorta average but the full game will be really good. I liked how good the cops AI and teamwork is.

B.O.T. I expect most developers have finished their launch games and are probably just adding finishing touches, beta testing, removing glitches, and producing.

How long does it take to make a game?

I would have thought that most of the launch titles need to be finished up by the end of the first week in November - this should give them plenty of time to get mass producing. Especially the likes of PDZ which is releasing a LE version also.

How long does it take to make a game?

We are talking around 2-4 years if not more, it depends on many different circumstances. For instance if a game is just a sequal and uses the same engine it will only take about 2 years to make. However, look at the likes of Doom 3 they spend more than 5 years on that title because they had to develope the engine aswell as the game.

I should also mention that with it taking so long it also makes it hard on the developers to keep up with modern technology. I mean look at the huge advances in PCs in just 6 months, in 2 years you could be lost :) thats why consoles make it that bit easier because they are garanteed to be there with the same specs for over 5 years.

Yes video games and cartoon movies takes a long time, for instance finding nemo took 5 years, and they use video game programmers to help them lowe the time

I would asume the games for launch are at 95% done. The additional 5% covers any and all bugs that may be in the game. Any game that is already finished, would still be in the testing process. Beta-testing has been going on for some time now.

Every thing has happend a bit quick. I predict that we will see a few titles apear a week late, as aposed to system Launch day.

Whats beta testing?

xpitbull
10-10-2005, 02:00 PM
Beta testing is the last stage of testing, beta testing is followed by a round of testing called alpha testing

I played the demo. Im counting down the days. Im glad they brought the cops back.

xpitbull
10-10-2005, 04:20 PM
The cops will really be hard to smoke, they use a co op mode, so i will be a real challenge to pay attention to the race, your opponents, the traffic, and THE COPS

I think that there is at least a two week window after certification and when the "gold" disc is manufactured and the games are mass produced and then shipped. They are probably done with the cases and manuals for most launch games, but some games may not be "gold" until the first week of November.
