I would thought it would do and some retailers might give you the option to expand the warranty.

I hope it's at least a year so if they release a HD-DVD version of the console I can get that.

yeah, well after reading the J. Allard article that he said it is likely that there will be problems (i was expecting that) i just hope that a warranty will come with it so if it does break within a year, i can get a new one.

I'm thinking the manufacturer warranty is only 90 days, but I could be mistaken. If that's the case, it is just protection against DOA hardware for the most part.

i don't think that he was talking about there being problems with the actual consoles themselves. he was talking about the logistics of being able to make and distribute enough consoles to meet demand, i believe. after all, it wouldn't make much business sense to come out and say something to the effect that a third of the consoles manufactured for launch will be defective, right?

It will have a 1 year MS warranty, from what i heard GS and EB etc warranty will be for another mere 1 year.

In the article i think he was saying more about the shiping and manufacturing than the console breaking on you. Just hope they ship enough 4 me to get mine :D

The store warranty is usually 90 days, you can return the product within 90 days and they'll give you the money or exchange it for the same product. If you buy expensive electronic products (plasma tv, video game consoles, electronics in general) the store will give you the option to extend the warranty, usually 1 yr 2yr . For the original xbox 1 yr full cover warranty cost me $45 dlls at Best Buy

Anything electronic comes with a warranty. I think its the law or something.

Thats a relief because if I get a PS3 and I don't really like it I could return it for a 360. First I have to ask my brother if I could trade it in.

How do you figure that works? They don't give you a refund and you can't exchange a product on warranty for another product. Warranties don't work like that. They aren't a credit system. If you buy a PS3 and don't like it you're stuck with it unless you find someone who will buy it from you. Probably a pawn shop. Won't give you what you paid for it though.

I doubt there will be broken consoles. Every electronic item has a warrenty of some sorts (5 month to 2 year)

Well actually if it is in the retailers return period (90 days most places) he can do just that, when the psp came out plenty of people that got them returned them, because they "didn't like them" just depends where you buy it from
