Microsoft have announced that Xbox Live will be down on the 24th to 25th October 2005. This is in order to prepare for the launch of the Xbox360. This down time is required so that Microsoft have everything up and running by the time the new system is launched on November 22nd in the U.S.

That seems like a short amount of time, they must have gotten everything tested and just about completely configured.

I just wonder, why do it now and not closer to launch?

just guessing here but maybe gives more time for testing out the new Live service on the 360 and catching any bugs and problems before it's launched.

That makes sense....If they start earlier that would give them plenty of time to correct any and every problem they find. Thanks man....
