As many of you have seen the pics and i have denied the fact that they are real, i thought this little piece of info was important enough for me to start a thread over. Tonight when i went to work and talked to my manager about these rumors, he said that they could be true. Some Best Buys and Gamestops, mainly in larger cities, have already started to recieve their shipments, so the pic could very well be a real thing, but judging by the size of the boxes i doubt it. I also learned that Best Buy has an exclusivality right with Microsoft that it could start selling the systems on the 19th instead of 22nd, but are refusing to because of the ammount of confusion it would cause other retailers. Hope this helps some and if i learn anything else ill let ya know :tee:

the whole bestbuy things seems a little shady, if they were allowed to sell on the 19th, they would sell on the 19th! if anybody else got caught doing it then the policy is that they could lose any future shipments, i dont think that is really true, not a lot of sense, even less sense fo bb if they turned it down

The reason they are not selling it is because they dont want the confusion with other retailers, they dont want them to be bombarded with people wanting there stuff, and would rather keep it the date that has been announced so far instead of causing so much confusion less than a month before the system launches. It makes plenty of sense to me.
I'm not saying you are wrong, but If I was able to seel on the 19th, I would tell the world! I would not be concerned for other reatilers and any confusion.

Plus if all retailers wait till 11/22 they'll have the maximum stock on hand. The greater the stock the lower the panic. I hate panic...

Good point. I dont think 3 days is that big of a deal anyways, i look at it as just more time to get pumped up and excited for it. And for those who need more money its 3 more days to get it.

Sorry man, but I call BS on that. There is absolutely no way MS would give Best Buy the go ahead to sale the Xbox 360 on the 19th. The launch date is November 22nd, and MS wants noone to get the console before then. Except for those Mt. Dew/Every 10 min. winners.

Yeah, I agree, not gonna happen.
Unless Best Buy sells 'em illegally, you're not gonna see one until Nov. 22.

yep I can say as of today my local EB has theirs in (of which 1 is mine whooo!) but of course can't sell them and they are under lock and key. I saw my buddy who is the asst manager today at Circuit City and he told me to swing by to see something "cool" that came in. Turned out to be the 360's and yeah it sure wasn't an empty box! took great willpower not to knock him out and run! There were only 20 premium and 10 core packages

Gamestop and EB Games are global, meaning that their world wide. Competitors for years, Gamestop recently purchased EB Games. All EB games stores, will become Gamestops within the next year. So, it's kind of funny they just opened EB Games near you, when their just going to change them to Gamestops.
You havn't heard of Wallmart? The store was originally designed, and targeted, towards those who were on a very tight budget. People with money were looked down upon by even shopping at one. Over time, people become 'cheap', and wallmart became a standard for shopping.
Basically, a Wallmart is twice the size of a Super Target or K-mart, and has MUCH better prices on most everything. Their electronics could be better, as they don't reduce video games in price for crap.
BACK ON TOPIC
As noted, the Best-buy 19th opening is BS. However, only because it is illegal for even Microsoft to agree to this. Once a street date is placed upon a system, or game, that sticks. It can be removed, but it would have to be removed entirely. If Microsoft told best-buy to sell their systems on the 19th, both Microsoft, and best-buy, would be sued. Street dates can't be broken by the company who registers them, or any retailer. They can only be removed 100%, or in-forced 100%.
Numbers are COMPLETLY made up in the following scenario
You see, say Target, bestbuy, gamestop, and Toys'r'us all buy 1000 systems each. They all receive their shipments 2 weeks early, and had a pre-registered date to sell them. Then, Best-buy gets word they can sell them on the 19th. Now, Target, Gamestop, and Toy's'us, are being left out, but they had agreed to the same date. Due to this, Those left out retailers, are losing user base, only because their not allowed to sell the system.
However, once Best-buy sells the initial Xbox 360, because of the way a Street date works, the other retailers can start selling theirs. In case some one cheats on the street date, the street date becomes void. Meaning all other stores can sell their systems after the point of the initial sale. Only the initial store, will be in trouble for the action, the rest is more-less, 'self defense'.
This is why, things need to be reported! If some one sells a XBox 360 at an authorized retailer, before November 22nd, and it gets reported, the street date is officially broke. All stores can sell the systems.
Sorry gamestopdude, I'm not trying to be rude to you.
