First off, this conversation occured while a few people buying City of Villians. I swear, everybody there was buying that damn game. My friend got his yesterday...and was still playing it at one in the afternoon. Nuts.

Anyway, this is what the manager had to say.

1.) Didn't know if there was a midnight release.

2.) Didn't know when they were getting the first shipment

3.) Didn't know how many they were going to get on the first shipment

4.) Claimed that the XBOX was going to be in short supply

That is all..seems like he didn't know

I went to my local gamestop and they said:

1) their is definitely goin to be a midnight release for those who reserved

2) the first shipment should be in nov 15th but cant sell until the 22nd

3) didnt know how many they were getting on the first shipment

4) claimed that second shipment could possibly be in a week or two after the first shipment

Well, I will go to my EB when I can, but here is the info that I got the last time, if I remember correctly:

1. Midnight release!

2. First shipment would be in the latest of the 20th.

3. 19 Prem, and 3 core.

4. Unknown information.

Updated info.

all those things depend on the location of the store.....

1.Midnight release will vary from store to store
2.When they receive 360 depends on the store
3.Mst the stores i have talked to know exactly when there getting them
4.The 360 is deffinately in short supply cutting original estimates in half in some places however this also depends on location. Some stores will still receive all the 360 they were promised

They have no idea, Microsoft will tell them when they need to know.

But until then, remember, they don't know. So even if they tell you something, it's probably wrong.

Yeah seems that way over here they know what they are doing but not when theyre gonna recieve it.

I wouldn't bother slating them about not knowing when it arrives because usually they know as much as you. I work in an electronics store and its the same for us when new things arrive. M$ will decide!

I talked to someone at the EB where I pre-ordered mine. As far as the date they're getting them goes, he said Microsoft isn't telling them anything so they can't even confirm the 22nd. He did, however, say I would be getting mine as soon as they get them. And I only pre-ordered a week ago.

Since there is so little knowledge of what's going on, I bet my next paycheck this is all intentional from microsoft. Make everyone think that there won't be enough 360's to go around, and it guarantees them a HUGE opening day, everyone and their brother is probably going to all these stores and reserving now. It's cheap brilliant marketing. My buddy went to best buy TODAY and was guaranteed a system. And babbages.com says they still have systems available for launch. There will be plenty to go around. It'd be flat out stupid to have a HUGE shortage right before christmas. Two months ago, sure......but not now. Microsoft would be freakin insane to not have enough systems for sale during Holiday season. Seriously.

Your right they would waste thousands if they ran out of systems before the holiday season.

Shorten the Supply, Drive up the Value and Demand. This is so old of a marketing trick. What is sad about it is Dreamcast tried to rush their system and games and on launch day there were alot of unhappy gamers due to games not working with systems. MS has been in the Bizz a long time and they KNOW how to make money, don't be surprized that the stores get their 1st and 2nd shipments all in one batch.

Sort of sad when you put you're deposit on a store that should be experts on games and yet they don't know. Shame on EB GAMESTOP & GAMECRAZY.

I verified w/ EB games yesterday, they are only getting 27 systems in. I called everywhere, and NOBODY knows anything about launch quantities....
I am NOT getting launch at EB, probably have to cancel my preorder and go to best buy or whatever........I will have this system at launch, whatever it takes.

For the record, M$ are a bunch of ****'s. It's so glaringly obvious that they just purposely jipped the launch date quantities to create more demand (you know they'll have plenty for Christmas), so now some true gamers are going to miss out on launch. It's not right......they could have tripled launch quantities and still not had enough. Bastards.

Last time I say this don't curse here. I doubt 27 is all a store will get unless if it is a small town. I's say at least 50-100 units both core and premium. I don't believe them.

I read a good article about how they are intentionally keeping the numbers they sell down in the first few months. Since after that initial time period the price of manufacturering will start dropping each month. So this way they actually save money by selling less systems from the start and then start to ramp up the sales later on. That way they are selling more when they cost less and dont take AS big a hit on the production loss. It was wild but it made a lot of since. They had a good breakdown of how if they sold more right now and kept going they would lose more money then if they sold fewer in the first couple months and then up'd the production.
So could very likely be microsoft purposely taking it easy on production to save a little money this go round. Time will tell

I talked to the EB manager at the store where I preordered, and he told me that there will indeed be a midnight launch; that the shortage rumors are definitely true, and that they will be receiving 62 units on the first day, cut down from 88. He was able to guarantee me one at midnight, as I am number 44. Also, something interesting he said was that priority was being given to those who preordered with games. those who preordered without games were being the first to be pushed back....seriously.

now that i think about it....i only know one guy who got pushed back to december 2, and he only ordered the console, no games.

also, he said that microsoft was having issues with manufacturing (yeah right), and that they weren't able to produce as many as expected. however, they are able to produce them faster....whatever the hell this means.

he told me as a result that instead of receiving large shipments every 10 days, they were now receiving smaller shipments every 5 days.

Well my store said they were originally supposed to get 50, now it's 27. Most other stores had no idea......toys r us said they were getting 8 (what?)......

anyway, I'm just mad, I preordered mine so long ago, and EB is getting jipped on their shipments. LAME!

i am so freaking pissed about the situation. i talked to my EB manager last night. she said that they definitely are having a HUGE shortage on systems. they went from getting 30 to getting about 12-13. well, i am number 13. i have had mine preordered since may 17. how lame is that?!? i might not even be getting one on launch date! i am freaking number 13!!! ive had it preordered for about 6 months now and im not even guaranteed one! this is just ridiculous!

This does sound a little bad, although I'm 99.9% sure I'll be getting one launch day, but wasn't the PS2 shortage a whole lot worse if I remember right?
