Well we got DSL a few months ago and I thought I could play Live. Well I then thought I needed to plug my Xbox directly into the DSL port. This was out of the question due to location. A few weeks ago though I saw a wireless transmitter that could be plugged into the DSL port so I could keep my Xbox in my room. I didn't get it because the 360 was so close to launch so I'm waiting for it to get on Live.

Anyway, this brings me to my question, what will I need?

What will I need to get to get my 360 wireless? Will I have to buy a gold package or will it come with a free month? What will I need to do once I get online?

I just need some general information so it'll make things easier. I'm very new to this so all the information I could get would help me greatly. I just want to be ready and have an idea of what to do when I start and how to do it.

Well, the account you have will not make a difference. All that's needed is to have a wireless access point or router, and a way for the 360 to access the connection. You could either get the $100 wifi adapter for the 360 or you could get an adapter that connects to the RJ45 jack (network port).
If you want to use the network to wireless adapter, just get one that works with the current XBox.

To answer your question about if you have to buy a gold membership or if it come with the system. I am pretty sure that the premium package of the 360 come with a 30 day gold subscription and from there you can just link a credit card to you acount so when your subcription is up M$ will just charge you for another month or year (depending on how you set it) and you can just keep on playing. I am not sure about the wireless stuff because we just built a new house and my dad has the router cords runing through are walls so if I plug it into the wall in my room it goes straight to are router. If you are in the process of building a house do what we did but I bet you probally aren't so forget what I said. Hope I helped a little.
