I have read all over the web that the VGA and component cables display the same resolution, is this true? I just purchased a 40in Sony LCD and have 3 component and 1 vga. I figured I could use the vga and save my component hook ups.

I know VGA & Component can both do 480p/720p/1080i. Dont know if other resolutions are supported for VGA? For instance 1680 x 1050 that the Dell 2005FPW displays native.

Your sony is probably 720p native so it will work with either connection.

Yeah, I'm getting the VGA connector, because I don't have any HD TV's in my house, because my parents don't think there is any difference between old TV's and HD ones. Anyway, I have a DELL monitor that is 19' and is 1280x1024 resolution, so I hope the 360 will draw in 720p resolution, because its 1280x720 pixels, so it should just not draw a bit above and below the picture. I just really hope that's what happens, and it doesn't like draw in 480i or stretch 720p to fit the vertical height of the monitor, that would suck...
