Yeah i found this article on teamxbox.com. It has very good points and is telling Bungie what we really want to see for the next halo game. It’s a good read, Check it out.

By: Billy Hughes

We all know that Bungie is (most likely) hard at work on Halo 3 for the Xbox 360. But there are a few questions we have to ask ourselves.

With all the anticipation for Halo 2's release Bungie and Microsoft put out a release date fairly early into its development. This release date did indeed get Bungie into a bind. They ended up having to push it back, and back and back, till finally they could no longer push back any farther. Well when the time came the game was still not finished and they had to get it done quick. So Bungie started cutting corners and chopping stuff out of the game. This is what I don’t want to see happen to Halo 3. I don’t want to hear any release date (even though Bill Gates went blabbing his mouth) until the game is starting to be wrapped up. This game needs to be COMPLETELY finished. Not only is this most likely going to be the series finale but it’s going to be on the next-gen counsel (a highly anticipated next-gen counsel), but also the most anticipated game in gaming history.

ONTO THE LIVE ISSUES

Halo 2 has a lot of Xbox Live issues. Xbox’s are being modded, which is quite easy to do thanks to some ignorant web sites that offer these mods to download and then give you a tutorial on how to do it. And it’s quite annoying. Also (correct me if I'm wrong). Xbox Live along with Halo 2 have no dedicated servers which is what brings up my other issue. When playing matchmaking in halo 2 there is one host, and this host can be on either team, and the team the host is on has quite an advantage due to all the information is going to them first. This gets very annoying when you are not blessed with a super fast connection. Multiple times I've Planted a shotgun shell directly in the opponents face only to be blasted right back and of course killed. This issue actually has a name, “host shotty”. I've watched sticky's bounce off players. I’ve seen sticky’s that were supposed to miss actually (how would you say) follow the player, or attract to them like a high powered magnet. I’ve been in situations were I’ve melee’d someone three times when it’s only suppose to be twice. I’m sure everyone has experienced at least one of these issues.

Now I know that online gaming technology is fairly recent and it can’t be perfect just yet. But I’ve played games on 56k dialup that have had less lag, (Taking into effect there wasn’t nearly the graphics, particle effects etc. but I think you get the picture) and right now I’m running 3 MB down 256k up. I should never run into lag issues but I do because I have to rely on other player’s connections as well. What I would like to know is…. is the new Xbox Live going to give developers an option of dedicated servers, or is it more complicated than that? With these new counsels coming out that can support all these crazy graphics, polygons, physics, particle effects, etc. Are we going to need next-gen broadband connections like fiber optic 15mps (as well as fast uploads as well) to play these games? Is cheating going to be made more difficult?

If you break it down you’re paying to play your next-gen games online:

* Xbox 360 – 399.99
* Xbox Live Gold 1yr – 49.99
* High speed connection –29.99 to 49.99/month (based on avg. costs of available connections)
* Halo 3 – 59.99

Let’s say we pick the $49.99 for the fast stuff and play on it for one year with our free 12 month Gold subscription. We are at a total of $1060.00 for your first year of gaming, and $650/yr to maintain online gaming (that’s just broadband and live subscription costs) which doesn’t include any additional games.

So if they say dedicated servers are to costly that’s bull s**t. we’re forkin’ out a lot of hard earned money to play these games, the least they could do is give us the BEST experience possible.

ONTO THE HALO 2 LEADER BOARDS

Right now origenxbox360.com is holding a contest, and part of this contest is if you’re on the halo 2 leader boards for double team you may have a chance to be the first one to try out the new Xbox 360.If you haven’t been to originxbox360.com then go to the team Xbox page to see what I'm talking about. That sounds pretty cool. What they don’t mention is that it is almost impossible to get your ranking that high with out boosting, modding, bridging, or any other forms of cheating. This brings up another issue. If you go and take a look at the halo 2 leader boards you’ll see that just about anybody that’s on the leader boards have done some form of cheating. And I’m not just assuming this either, you can take a look for yourself. Take a look at individual games played and you’ll see a list of games that were quit out of, or the score was 1 to 0 when the other person quit, an extremely high hit percentage for the amount of shots fired (which there are exceptions to that) or they will have all the kills indicating that they were modding. You will see a large number of theses games in a row. If seen a lot of boosters too. If you’re unfamiliar with this term it basically means that they use the same player or players to quit out for them. and you’ll see the players in all or most of that particular game mode that the cheater was playing. but my point is why would Bungie allow these people on the leader boards? I understand that stopping all this cheating is no easy task especially when you’re hard at work on a very highly anticipated videogame, but how hard is it to take these people off the leader boards along with there bragging rights. In my eyes that is not cracking down on the cheating issue. And for all you cheaters (and you all know who you are) we are going to REPORT, REPORT, REPORT that’s about all we can do right now, but Bungie will eventually get to you and for those cheaters that are on the leader board I want you to ask yourselves. Do you really feel good about that? Do you really feel good that if you were playing with an average ranked halo 2 player that does not cheat that they can beat you because you aren’t really one of the best?

Halo 2 is (in my opinion) still the most innovative and best experience I’ve had as far as video games, and I’m sure there are many people that can agree with me. The article that I have written is not meant to point fingers at Bungie, Microsoft, or the halo series, it’s only meant to improve upon the series and the fun factor of the game.

Please leave feedback on improvements you think could be made to the series, and also what you think about Xbox Live.

I saw this before - its a vary mature, straight-forward post in regard to fair play online. I cant stand how kid "mod" their box for this or that to "pwn" and "l337 howse" people. I think there should be a way that when you open your box the nic card fries, lol. Leave the friggen thing closed, or off Live. It didnt come modded for a reason.:mad:

I agree what Billy Hughes had to say about Halo 2. I though I was the only one who though that way. Lets hope for the best and see near perfection on the up riseing of Halo 3. Good find citizen X.

there are mods that aren't for cheating. like lighting mods. do you think someone should be penalized for wanting to make their xbox look cool? or just to back up games in case your disk drive diesor you mess up your disk? but really it boils down to the world needs some integrity

exactly - heck, turn your box into a shoe polisher if you want. Dont mod the blessed thing to have unfair advantages on other players, thats all.
