I did a search didn't pull up any useful results, so i figured i'd make a tread about it. I got my 360 and hooked it up to my non-hdtv via the component cables and no picture would display. I tried moving the switch to normal and hdtv on the cable itself, but no luck. I get sound, but no image, and i can hear the system restarting everytime I switch it. I had the same issue when i first got my DVD player a while back, and the problem turned out to be progressive scan being on. Is there was a way to turn this off on the 360?

In order to have the component cables work with a standard TV, use the standard connection, and select 480p. From there, shut down the counsel, and connect the component cable to the TV, having the switch on TV still. From there, it should work. That's what I did, and it works.

Hey, I wanted it to, I just went through an hour of figuring it out, as well as a way to re-produce it with minimal effort.

I had the opposite problem.I got component cables from Blockbuster for $20(I have a core system) but could'nt get a picture either.I should have checked my hd settings.I took the cables back because I thought they were defective
