Are these connections the same? If not, which is best for HD gaming?

?? not sure what your getting after. no they are not the same connection, vga would hook up to ur monitor component is for ur hdtv, if you dont have an hd tv and dont have the extra $$ to drop on one but want to enjoy the 360's graphics pick up the vga cable for hd compareable screen quality. hope thats what u were goin for!

Sorry - shoulda been more specific.

I meant, do VGA and composite connections bring the the same quality? My HDTV has both of these connections, but I am wondering if VGA is better/same/worse than the component connections.

What would the pros/cons be for both if any...?

use the component that comes with it.

the VGA is good if you dont have an HDTV and want to hook it to your PC to get the higher res that way

My tv has both as well. But they probably aren't much differen't, they are both analog. if Microsoft would release a HDMI or DVI connector now that would be worth upgrading to.

not really. On my HD box I bought an HDMI and hooked it up only to see that despite all the hype there was no visible difference between them and my monster component cables. I only use it now because I needed the 2 component spots for my receiver and DVD player. Otherwise I would have just returned it. So for something like that they are worth it but I wouldn't go out buying HDMI specifically just as an "upgrade" thinking its going to look any better. Seeing is believing and I didn't see anything worth the price
