I was just wondering how people are making out with this. Are you even trying to beat the game in this mode for the gamerscore?
So far I have done the full Russian and British Campaign in Regular which is pretty easy imo. In Veteran so far I have the Russian campaign all completed with the first 2 missions of the British campaign done. I find it is a totally different game playing in Veteran. Its VERY VERY hard and somewhat more enjoyable and challenging. The game is just getting harder and I heard that the American Campaign is even harder than the others on Regular game setting. Just looking for some thought.
peace. :dancing:
Ive started going thru it again on VET (beat it once on normal) and its crazy. Just started it on vet, only a few missions in and Im allready not looking forward to taking the hill again. I can see me breaking a controller or two out of rage on that mission.

Dude - The american campaign on normal is hard enough, I cant imagine it on Veteran.
I have 2 more missions (campaigns) and I am done with it! W00T! :thrasher:
@ GamePlaya4Life
If you like First Person Shooters - You have GOT to get this game!
It is totally engrosing! Great on STD def tv even BETTER on Widescreen HD!
Sgt / Capt always yelling out to you, throw smoke, watch out potatoe smasher (nade). You feel like your in the mist of it! Your squad actually have brains (AI) is very responsive! Even the Germans - I have died in areas and tried different routes and the Germans had responded differently!
This game is superb!
1 of my favorite moments was sniping from the water tower, at the germans setting up launchers from all sides! Also clearing the those houses!
What a BLAST!
Man..theres times where you have to press forward or the GERMANS keep COMING AND COMING! and then there's others where your being ordered to fall back a hold an area, untill reinforcements arrive!
anyway - I have to state that I am not a WW2 fan at all. But this game grabs you and puts you in the game!

I'm working my way through the first American Campaign on Veteran - it's REALLY hard. The first part of the D-Day mission was damn near impossible.

02-12-2005, 11:16 PM
All I have left now is the last campaign for the British, and the first 2 for the USA (D-Day & Hill 400) everything else is completed in Vet mode. I should have this completed soon enough

I have never come closer to smashing my xbox 360 with a sledge hammer. I have completed 5 missions on veteran and I am stuck on this one part that I cannot pass for right now. I get so angry its unbelievable. And to think the only reason I am doing it is for my damn gamer score!

Me to man, and the best part is we are going thru all this death and destruction for gamerscore points that dont really do anything for you.
PS-5 missions finished on veteran, so your on the ambushed mission were your jeep gets hit by the truck, then all hell breaks loose inbetween a bunch of buildings with no escape other than death death and more death.
my buddy Eilujin just went thru it yesterday and still gets all red in the face when we talk about it.

Are you on the Ambush mission? You must be... That was the Hardest part on Vet mode to date. It took me a long time to figure it out. VERY FRUSTRATING. Yes a sledgehammer was in my thoughts, I was also considering if $60 for a new wireless controller may be worth throwing across the room.
If it is that part you are stuck on, I can give you some pointers on how to get by it, very VERY tricky.
But still I love the Challenge, I love to find games worth playing on such a difficulty that is this much fun, yet so frustrating.

The ambush was a PAIN IN THE ASS!!! But I got news for ya, it gets harder...I'm on the level where you have to take this little town - buildings A through F. I have all of then except F. It's a REALLY hard level. I think the first part of D-Day was the hardest though. . . .
When I finish this game on Veteran, I will feel like I actually accomplished something (hopefully). LOL!

Yea, I am on the ambush mission. I tried the very beginning about 17 times before I got past it, I got to the first checkpoint which is right actually in the same spot just after you kill all the guys.
Now thats where I'm stuck, I kill like 100 guys and it takes me 20 minutes but I never reach a checkpoint. Then I have to start over. I was really hoping it got easier.

I personally believe Veteran on this game is harder than ledgendary on Halo. That's just me though.
I beat the game on difficult and I'm almost done with the Russian campagne on Veteran. Personally, the American campagne was the hardest and defending Hill 400 was the hardest level to me. I can't wait to get pissed off and throw my nice wireless controller through the TV when I get there.
I think it's pretty cool though because you have to change your strategy with the harder difficulty.

i am "looking forward" to veteran mode, just picked it up two nights ago, little more to go on normal. yeah d-day is prob gonna take a few hours just to get into the trenches lol, mkaes me wish i had a ps3, so when i throw my controller in anger...

Yea, I have to say this was the hardest for me to date. This is the 3rd mission in "The battle for Caen" The church (D) was just insane and then the last house (E) is just as crazy. Up to the final 2 buildings it wasnt so bad, but those 2 were just insane. I didnt get a chance to play D-day and hill400 yet in Vet. Hopefully sometime this week.

Im at the beginning of the American campaign on Hardened and it is so hard. I couldnt imagine it on Veteran mode. Ive tried and tried the part after you climb the rope and have to go through the bunker and i get killed on the other side every time. I took a break from it and went back to playing PGR. When I do beat the game Ill try it again on Veteran, when ever that may be. Good luck to everyone on the game. To those who dont have it yet, GET IT. This game is awesome.

i beat the game on normal last night and beat the first two russian missions on vet today. Not as hard as i was thinking but definatlly not simple. at least the germans still die if you shoot them a few times, unlike halo where on leg. it takes a clip and a half just for one elite

Completed it on Veteran today :congrats:
I was suprised that "Hill 400" was not as hard as I thought it was going to be. Actually it was one of the easier missions on Veteran.
Anyway I am happy :Proud:
It's very hard but most of the time you can even the odds with a good ol' smoke screen, then run in there and bash em.......unless they bash you first. The thing about it is that you can't just run and gun like in other FPS's.

This isnt fair I should have been done a long time ago but unfortunately i got that glitch that deletes your save file..... I just started doing it again yesterday once I inputted the cheat code cuz it would have sucked to start from the beginning again.....if it weren't for that I would have been done a while ago.....
D-Day was unbelievably hard, every other level was like sitting aruond a camp fire with marshmallows compared to D-Day, every part of the level was intense and very hard, the worst parts were when you had to clear out the upstairs of houses, of course no one helps you and you can't run and gun i think i used about......23-25 grenades on each room.
But CoD2 is a great game.

I've seen a lot of people with a 1,000 points from that game, so I know people are finshing it. Anyway, I've only gotten the first 2 missions done on verteran. Though, I really haven't played the game that much yet. Currently, I'm working on Activisions "Gun" game.
Off Topic
I rented Madden, and was able to get 490 gamerpoints in one 20 minute franchise game. Another 20 from going to certain stats pages. Then, the last 400 from simulating 30 years of the franchise mode. =P Took me 4 hours total.

Im on my last three missions for veteran. And D-Day for the American campaign is given me a very hard time. Its almost next to impossible to beat it. I got to the very end where u have to wait for 5 mins for reinforcements but i just cant do it. The Germans surround me. Its getting on my nerves!!
VictoryOverWar
30-12-2005, 06:02 PM
hey on that mission where your waiting for reinforcements at the final bunker you need to jump ontop of that bunker where its got a little walkway and then go prone watching that entrance. That will take you all the way up to where yu need to pop smoke and then its up to you to survive =)
Completed - Veteran
Key Points - Your team are the most valuable assets, i find myself do the cover fire rather than being covered, smoke grenades are priceless the more the better really. When it comres to planting charges on tanks eveyr time i ran with no hope i managed to do it

I already beat the other two campaigns on veteren.
I think that this game is to short. I got this game for christmas and beat the entire game on regular and now I am almost done with the game on veteren.
They should have let you play as the germans .I think It would be cool to be on the opposite side for once. Other than the game being on the short side it is still a really great game.

I'm working on it. I'm almost done with the Russian campaign. I believe the part I'm on is the last in the Russian campaign. It takes like a million tries to beat a section in Verteran. The enemies light you up like a christmas tree with bullets. But you get achievements like every other stage.
PS there was one section in the game so far that had me pulling my hair out (and my hair is cut close to my skull). the part that you have to destroy a tank that goes around a perimeter (it the part just before the section that you have to get to city hall). I shoots bullets and it fires the cannon. I took almost a hour to figure out how to get close to the tank and arm the explosive without getting pasted in the process. I can only imagine what's in store for me in the British and US campaigns.

I had to take it back to Blockbuster before I could finish the Russian Campaign on Vet. It's not easy, that's for sure. I'll have to rent it again when I can find the time.

i beat cod2 on vetran and anybody who doesnt belive me look at my gammercard. Lemme give u guys a tip. dont use MG's use single shot weapons becuase you will not be getting up very close to mg someone and you will want to take your time and make your shots count keep under cover if you get shot once becuase trust me it hits you faster than you think it will

Vetern makes the game way more interesting, I first beat the game on easy then went back in veteran. Something like walking across a battlefield in easy takes like a minute takes sometimes 20 minutes to carefully kill every1 so you can pass. I still have the american campaigns and 2 british campaigns to finish on veteran

Beat the game on vet. Look at my gamercard. Took 6 days on 2-3 hours playing. Its fustrating especially when your allies do nothing and let you die.

Proud day for shotty, Ya I beat veteran. my best advise is to screw life and just run to your objective. It really helps in clearing the houses. Throw a smoke and a frag and run in and hide. Your men would do the rest.

Not to revive an old thread...but after reading this one last week I became interested. After beating the game, I decided to go for veteran. Lemme tell ya....it sucks. I've never felt that much frustration playing a game. I finished the Stalingrad missions tonight and plan to tackle the rest as my blood pressure will allow. I only play until it's no longer fun....dying every few seconds when your pinned down really sucks! Now the AI has taken up spawnkilling! Congrats to all you guys who finished it!

Well TBH CoD2 was my 1st 360 game and played it on Vet from the beginning, yes it was frustrating at times but It wouldn't be enjoyable otherwise :)

I did. It could be little frustrating at times. You really had to you cover since one shot puts you in the red. Felt very satisfied to beat it that way and it definitley added to the replay value of the game.

Finally, after not touching CoD2 for a while I got the itch to pick it back up and finish the game on Vet. Just finished it. Talk about having to have lots of patience. The hardest parts were D-Day invasion and some town where you end up protecting it on top of a cilo. Sheech...

Only got this game 4 days ago and decided to jump in at the deep end and play it on vet from the get go. Man it's tough, I've found myself praying for checkpoints on each corner; swearing loudly everytime I get shot and giving the tv the bird and laughing like a maniac everytime I beat a level.

I finally got the game. I've played it on my PC before and now that my PC has bit the dust, I figured I might as well get the Game of the Year version....
Anyway I've made it through the Russian and British parts with a few hang ups here and there. Now I'm on the Americans (D-Day) and I'm on the last mission Silo. I got to the point where you climb up the silo to snipe the German mortar teams but I died a few seconds after a checkpoint. So now I have an incoming mortar shell kill me every time I reload from that checkpoint. Oh is that **** ****. I wish you could restart from any checkpoint. I guess now I'll have to redo the whole level and try my luck at sniping again.

joshcisn, I had the same prob, don't worry, you'll beat it, I did anyways. It's good in a way, you'll boost your sniping skills like hell when you finally beat it.

Ive started playing it again more lately and it keeps getting harder and harder on Vet. It is more satisfying when you do make it through a level on Vet.

Don,
Thanks for the input. I just did it. Only my second try I guess that's good. The german scoped gewehr probably made the difference this time.

Yeah me! Finished on vet in 15 days (about 2 hours a day).Just as well I was getting fed up of coming across houses like clown cars holding seemingly endless waves of germans. It was damn hard but worth it for the satisfaction of 1000/1000 gamerpoints.

Yeah they seem endless if you don't advance. I got the game of the year edition with the bonus DVD and was watching that the other night. On there they talked about how the AI was and how the germans would just keep coming if you didn't move up. I thought well that would've been nice to know instead of killing them for what seemed like forever lol. Fun game, one of the few games I'm proud to have got all 1000 gamerpoints in. I can't wait for CoD 3 either. I just hope it does come out at the end of this year and doesn't get pushed back like Medal of Honor Airbone (pushed back to Jan 2007 instead of Nov 2006).

ya when u first start out your like holy crap this is impossible but like after awhile I thought it was kinda easy. I beat the game on easy, regular, Hardened, and Veteran. The hardest level's for me would be Hill 400 and maybe d-day. There were times when i did want to just break the 360 or throw the controllers at the tv. When you keep dying in the same spot try going another way to pick them off easier. If you just keep tryin youll get it.

I started CoD2 the first time on Veteran, took me 2 weeks to finish (you can't play too much in one sitting, too nerve-wrecking). I seem to find PGR3's cone challenges harder than CoD2 veteran tho even if racing games are my thing :(
Great game CoD2, bring on number 3:p

Usually by the end of a level, I'm shaking and I go cry to my mommy. lol. Imagine how I was when I beat the game on vet!!
I've gone through so much agression, swearing, flipping off the tv, and more with this game it wasnt even funny. If I had a dime for every time I cussed at this game...

I have a whole new problem in the Silo mission. How in the name of God go you go down ladders? To go up, you just walk towards them, but when I try to go down at the end of the mission, I just fall down to the ground and die. Do I have to face a certain way or something? I feel really stupid but sombody help me please!

try walking at it backwards when you fall push forwards and you'll grab the ladder

I always play it on vet but I'm stuck on the last mission on Rommel! This is my most hated mission in the game, the one in Matmata. If I had only one grenade at the tme, I would be happy........if you trying to beat Hill 400, go for the 2nd mission in Hill 400, I think its called Rangers, Lead the Way! The Battle for Caen is also a freakin' hard one! I beat the first two but I can't beat the 3rd one. I would yell loud if I die, when I played the first mission on Rommel amd beat the part with the machine gun and when I was done, I was in tears! When the German bursts through the door, my teammates were just looking at him. The second time it happened, I shot him in the head when he was bursting through the door and he still killed me, I shot 12 bullets at him and he didn't die! That's all for veteran level for me.

I beat it on Veteran.
Jesus, that American Campaign is tough. I mean, I thought the other two campaigns were tough, but I could beat those levels and it only took and hour. Then I started the American Campaign and it took 2 or 3 days.
During the Russian and British campaigns I was extremely happy to beat a level. But during the American campaign I was extremely happy to get to a checkpoint.
