I use it and it does just fine. Better than going standard def thats for sure. I dont like it as much as my plasma though. Just doesn't look as good. Thats just how LCD's are, they are getting better by the year but right now they still aren't as good. People can argue it all they want. Put them side by side and it stops all the argueing, as the proof is in the pudding as they say. But for the price and since its just in my bedroom its great. Just depends on what size you want and where your putting it, and then of course what you can afford.

i use a benQ6100 projector...it is hooked via 25ft component to SVGA cord ..it is connected into a component switch box...i run just one cable to the projector...my tv, dvd and xbox 360 are hooked up into the switch box..i know i lose some quality through the switch box...but it saves me time...it pumps out a mind blowing 110' picture...can go up to 300"...playing vids on it is the best...i know its not a true digital picture ...but either is the xbox 360..component = analog no matter how you explain it....my advice is dont spend $$$ on a hdtv get a projector..you can get a projector better then mine for less then the price of a crappy hdtv...and its portable
here's a pic from superbowl...and king kong game...

They use that same type for the 360 kiosks.

Yes they do. I think Samsung has a deal with either Bestbuy and/or MS that only allows the 360 to be displayed on those Samsung models. ?

I agree with your thinking PTBP; and I do preach this concept to my clients on a regular basis; that for roughly $3000, I can hook them up with a 120" picture with an electric drop-down widescreen. Their response?...."We don't have the room for that". And more often than not, they are right. In order to properly enjoy a 120" image without seeing all it's flaws, your seating distance needs to be a good distance from the screen (there is a formula we use to determine this in the industry; if you are at all interested in it, PM me and I will share), and this differs greatly from PJ (projector) to PJ; and screen to screen. Then there is always that pesky ambient light issue.....

Be that as it may; it is still, bar none, the best "bang-for-your-buck" available today, if you have the appropriate environment.

Italia NYC...
yeah that would be great to see those specs.... u can tell your clients that i have the projector set up in my bedroom as i am renovating the media room to maximum pimpness.... as of right now the picture is 11 ft from the end of my bed ....and when watching hi def tv or x360 the picture is still amazing ..(then again i like sitting 1st or 2nd row at theatres) tell them to get a reg tv for everyday use and projector for special viewings..personally i use for everything..
anyone thinking of going projector ..make sure you clean alot and get an air ionizer(or however you spell it) place it in the opposite corner of the room...the last thing you want to get is a chunk of dust on the mirror inside the projector..this causes dust blobs...which shows up on dark pictures...i bought the projector with a 3 yr warranty plus it came with a free back up bulb.. so i cant complain...
werd..

Italia_NYC, since you have experience, can I ask which would you recommend for xbox360 gaming, a tube such as a 30" Samsung Slimfit or Sony (like the KD-30XS955), or an LCD. Plasmas are out of my price range.

DONT GO FOR SLIMFLAT, ive had it and it sucks ass. rele , it has a MAJOR slow reaction time to the remote, it takes like 8seconds to change the channel.
i got a 32 " lcd from sears for a lil over 920$

Well, out of the models you mention; hands down, the KD-30XS955 get's my vote! Especially for gaming. The downside; it weighs 160lbs.

I was leaning towards that model. Just from my own experience with watching movies on my Panasonic CRT SDTV with component input versus an LCD, it seemed to be completely superior to the LCD in terms of color depth (I don't know if that is the right term, but the colors were striking in comparison). The only concern that I had was this lag that I have heard about when converting a 480p or 720p signal to 1080i.

Thanks for the input.

No problem.

As for converting 480/720p to 1080i, "lag" is not an issue. I've never heard the term "lag" when referring to any conversion. You needn't worry about any such myth.
