Microsoft did a great job trying to impress the japanese with their new system, but the japanese in general don't seem to care about anything that is not japanese made concerning game systems. If it was possible I would suggest that microsoft pull the 360 from that biased country and let their system succeed in markets where it will succeed. I'd bet if the PS3 came out without blueray, and was inferior to the 360 in Japan it would still probably outsell the 360 20 to 1. If the Japanese don't want the system, then pull it. Even Jesus did not go where he was not wanted.

Well you think that is funny wanna see some seriously screwed up sh*t . Here in america and Europe were willing to pay full price for 360 units here is a story from the news about japan .

Japanese Shops Now Slashing Xbox 360 Prices

The train wreck that is the 360 Japan Launch continues. Unloved 360s consoles collect dust, and retailers are unable to return those unwanted Xbox 360s to Msoft due to contractual obligations. To cut loses and cover their arses, stores are left with no choice but to offer discounts. The originally 38,800yen (about $350 US)consoles have been lowered to 18,800yen (about $150 US) with Internet Service Provider contracts so that the shop could get some kickback money from the IP. And this is what, four days from launch?

Eds Note: While this style of pricing is common in the US, electronics stores in Japan tend to do this to move inventory they cannot sell.

I think that is funny...as they are trying to gain a bigger share of the Japan market and it does not hat it is going to work. The reason that Xbox 360 will not gain more market share is that the Japanese buy either SOny or Nintendo and do not want the American gaming machine!

I agree gents. The Japanese market is a niche market of gamers already aligned with either the Playstation or the Nintendo franchise. I understand that Msoft is trying to cut out a portion of that rich pie, but the facts are that the Japanese 1) prefer home made products and 2) like certain style of games that did not launch with the 360.

On the first issue, the Japanese are very nationalistic, meaning, they almost always support the home team in any way, especially when it comes to tech savvy stuff (seen any Detroit made cars in Japan lately?). The next front will start to see improvement; games are coming out that cater to the Japanese tastes, but will it be too late by then? If only 50,000 units are sold, all the consumers would have to buy the game titles to turn a profit or just break even.

No, Msoft should focus on the US, Europe and other gaming countries not specifically aligned to any particular console like Nippon is. Though I do think Nintendo may prevail over Sony in Japan this time around. Just a hunch.
