i'm just wondering if i could use another wireless usb adapter on my system instead of the first-party adapter. My adapter is an Actiontec 54mbps Wireless USB adapter (picture below). Info here http://www.actiontec.com/products/home_networking/54mbps_usb_adapter/index.php

I'm not currently using it so why should I buy $99.99 if i have one that might work.

Whoa whoa whoa!!

ZpYkE : How do you know it'll work?
The piece of kit in question is a Wireless USB adaptor.
These type of products usually require drivers to make them work and there is no facility on the 360 to load on drivers as such.

I really don't think M$ would allow this to be compatible and we already know they have USB ports in there that limit the use of none MS approved peripherals.

If you are going for a none M$ wirless adaptor make sure it is Ethernet as there are no drivers required. :)

I checked out xbox.com for compability of my router and such. Mine was actually a Gateway. Actiontec Gateway GT701WG. It is compatible but I'm not sure with my adapter though. Honestly, I tried it. I guess its not plug and play. I lost my installation cd a month ago . Maybe if I put the cd on xbox it might recognize. Don't you agree?

No I don't, if your USB adaptor has drivers designed for Windows then they will not work on the 360... it's a totally different OS. :)

Only plug and play devices will work other than MS' own Wireless Adaptor... and I dont' know of any that are plug and play. :)
