media connect

my windows media connect will not let me go on and share my files but when i go on my computer it says that it has begun sharing but my xbox 360 wont let me.
does anybody know what the problem is i would like to know what is wrong

How is your 360 connected to your computer?
Are you using a Cross-over cable or a straight-through?
If your 360 is connected direct to your PC then you'll be using ICS and will be using a cross-over cable and you can't use media connect(or so I've been told).
If your using a router then you'll be using a straight-through cable so shouldn't have a problem,so maybe someone else can shed some light on your problem if this is the case.
