I'll try to help you out,but I need you to go through the entire process that you did upto the point where you need help,I know it's a pain but it will help.
Also what format is your music in (MP3 etc.) and where did you get your music (CD rip, file sharing or online download ie Itunes,Napster).
Give me this info and I or someone else maybe of help to you.

Big question, can you stream it through the music player from the dash-board?

In the game, use the 360 button, and select "select Music" and finally, choose your PC. From there, it's the same as the music player, only smaller.

Don't, I explored everything as soon as I hooked up my 360 and missed things. That one is a little interesting because you have to use the 360 button. I thing it would have been nice to have it in a pause menu, but at the same time it's easier to put it in the 360 then in each game.

Its interesting you say that, because I couldnt find out how to stream music from my PC until I read it on another thread on this forum! The other thing that sucks is that you can only stream from the My Documents/My Music directory on an XP PC. This sucks because I have so much music on my PC that I have it on a separate hard drive, so I have to copy it to the My Music directory before I can stream it. Seems dumb to me.
Is it only me or does anyone else think the 360 manual that comes with it is seriously lacking? I mean it doesnt tell you hardly anything. For instance if you want to program the media remote to work with your telly, nowhere tells you the codes to enter to control the telly. In the end I found it on my PC on Xbox live after much searching.

You can share any folder, open WMC on your PC and click the sharing folder and click add and browse for the folder you want to share,I'm sharing 6 folders with my 360.

Thanks. The problem is I have XP Professional and not Windows Media Centre. I'm pretty sure with XP you can only see the My Music directory.
Looks like I'll have to see if I can get WMC some time.

With XP home or Pro, you can see music and pictures only. I am actually thinking about getting Media Center just to stream video.

Thanks purp. I have found out where I am going wrong. I have 2 PCs on my network, one with W2K and the other with XP. I have installed Windows Media Connect onto the XP machine and used that to share the music, which is a mapped drive from the W2K PC. Hence the 360 not picking it up as that machine has the wrong operating system.
DOH!

OK - today I moved my hard drive from the Windows 2000 machine to my Windows XP machine, shared it with the Xbox 360 and hey presto - perfect streaming of all my 20GB's of music to my 360.
Thanks again Purp!

I don't like how when you stream music from your PC 360 reads the ID3 tags not the exact filenames. I spent a good 15 hours organizing all my songs in band and album folders, with the exact file name and everything. They all look like #. Band - Song.
360 streams them so they are all discombobulated.
