Gamerpoints are like M$ dollars for you to buy things on their live marketplace. Some stuff is free like trailers and such, but some arcade games and other things like that cost gamerpoints. They are making it so in online games you can buy swords and stuff with these points. I would never spend real money to buy these points for fake game stuff.:rolleyes:

Is that right? I didn't know you were going to be able to buy weapons and stuff for online games. That would be cool. I thought it was just for buying ridiculous things like gamertag pictures and themes.

they are going to do that later on. they said in the splinter cell double agent you will be able to download new maps, even new missions

Also said is that most of this stuff is only going to cost like 50 cents to 3 bucks. so its not like a 30 dollar sword.

Well right now it is just for that stuff becuause none of the 360 games have that option. But when final fantisy and other games like that come out they will have that option. Sony talked about doing this for a while but could never justify charging people for something that only exists in a game but M$ had no problem with it. Plus M$ is also developing thier own ver of an "iTunes Music Store" where you can buy music with those points.

I wish they would incorperate the gamerscore into points that you can buy stuff with. That way the more games you pass and the more things your unlock (more time on xbox) the more things you would buy. :hmpf:

No I was right,but "Marketplace" is better then "Gamer" which gives the impression that you get points for playing games.

WOW, this hole conversation was talked about yesterday on the shot box.
To clear this up again.

Marketplace Points (are points that let you buy themes, gamer pictures, acade games ect...) That you can buy the Marketplace Point card at Bestbuy,target,wal-mart ect for $19.99. OR download them form the dashbord in market place which be charge to you creditcard also $19.99 .

Gamescore Points (are the points you unlock in a game that are showed as a statistic report, meaning how will you did and have braging rights over friend in you unlock something that he didnt, ex: 20 points for running 200 yards in a single game in madden. Or 100 pints for beating condemmed with only melee weapons.)
