The Nintendo DS is out of stock in Japan, likewise the Xbox 360 is out of stock in the US. This short news piece looks at the important differences in the way that Nintendo and Microsoft handled the respective shortages...
Differences between Microsoft and Nintendo
Unlike Microsoft, Nintendo did not issue a press release to say their production figures were on target.
(Nintendo) did not blame the advanced features of the DS as a reason for delays.
(Nintendo) did not conduct an interview suggesting people should understand that manufacturing an electronics product was not like baking bread.
(Nintendo) did not advertise on their website "Nintendo DS now in Stores".
(Nintendo) did not advertise their product on Television, when there were none available.
Instead Nintendo apologised.
