I am thinking about painting one of my wireless controllers. I need some feedback on whether this is a good idea or not. Also I need to know what type of paint would bond to the plastic best. Please give your feedback. Thanx.

Good idea - just use decent paint. It kills me that people spend all the time taking the controller/console apart to paint it and then buy some cheap a$$ no name paint!

I will probably go ahead and paint it since there was so much positive feedback. Don't know what colors yet, maybe black and green. I'll probably put my name or gamertag on it to personalize it. I'll post pics if I go through with it.

Wow, it didn't take long for people to start modding this thing huh? That one doesn't look too offending. $900 though...

Why on earth would you want do paint your controller??!!
That is a really bizarre idea mate!!
I do alot of airbrushing and have done stuff like this before. Painting plastic. To do it right you should try to take the face or shell of the controller off so you don't screw up the buttons. I don't know what's involved in that or if it's even possible. Scuff the plastic with a good scotch bright pad. Then spray it with Plastic Prep which you can by, in a can, at most automotive paint supply stores. This bites into the plastic and then the paint adheres to this. Then paint it. I airbrush with createx which would work fine in this situation. You could use createx auto air which is even better. Then spray several coats of clear coat, from a can, with drying inbetween coats with a hair dryer. Your good to go and it should hold up fine. A Coworker of mine has done this with a 360 faceplate and it worked great. The controller is a little different since your holding it all the time, but I think this will work. Good luck!

No, you definetly should not paint it. MAbye your faceplate, but nooo way because your controller could get all sticky and messed up.

you can take the cover off the controller. only a complete retard would do it without taking apart the controller.
there are screws that you access from the bottom of the controller

I was looking at mine today and there not screws, they need a star key. Anyone know where to get one? Or should i just use my mini screwdrivers. :hmmmm:

Why not use vinyl coloured covering then at least you can remove it with ease if you dont like it and you can create loads of designs with it too

Well the kind of paint you guys are talking about is called Krylon Fusion, its a paint that fuses with plastic really good. The majority of people who painted their xbox used it. So that would be the best type of paint to look for..
What The Hell Are You Thinking You Want To Paint A $80 Controller If You Do It Will Get Get Gooey When Ur Hands Get Sweaty Do Not Do It No Bad Noob Baaaad Noob
